Alongside offering gospel-centered programs to students on the North Side, we strive to love our neighbors by helping them keep their properties safe and clean. We recently had the privilege of collaborating with Ballfield Farm and Perry Hilltop Citizens Council to clean up trash and debris along a wooded pathway for community members to enjoy. Many hands make light work! Three Perry High School students joined us, and through their hard work, they earned service-learning hours for their graduation projects led by our Options/Workforce Development Department. As we work to be more like Jesus, we thank God for placing us in ordained moments like these to serve others.

We are always grateful to lock arms with organizations around Pittsburgh. Most recently, Koppers partnered with us by choosing Urban Impact as their Strikeout Charity for the month of September. Every time a Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher threw a strikeout, Koppers donated $25. We were thrilled to officially receive their generous donation at the game to finish off the season. Their gift will go directly toward our students and families we serve here on the North Side. Thank you, Koppers, for your love and support!

The Jazz Band is back at it again!

On Friday, October 9th at 6pm join us at The Oven Pizza Co. | Wexford for wood fire pizza and a special worship performance by our Jazz Band. If you can’t make it for dinner, stop by for lunch. A percentage of all purchases made anytime between 11:30am – 9pm will support the Jazz Band as our missionaries equip young musicians to express the power of the gospel through music. Can’t make it in-person? No problem! You can still support through to-go, take & bake, or gift card purchases. Just mention “Urban Impact” in person or use the code “Impact” when ordering online.

What’s better than pizza and basketball? Pizza, basketball, AND Jesus!

Over the next 8 weeks 3rd-12th grade boys and 6th-9th grade girls will gather in teams on Monday nights for Intramural Basketball from 6:30pm-8:30pm to learn basic drills and practice their technique during supervised games. Plus, enjoy delicious pizza for dinner 🙌.

Spread across 4 gyms, our Athletics missionaries and 71 volunteers will lead Bible lessons each night teaching how salvation is a gift, not earned by our works but through God’s grace and sacrifice on the cross. We are grateful to everyone locking arms with us during this season to holistically invest in our students’ lives.

If you are interested in joining our epic team of volunteers, please contact [email protected]. We’d love to meet you!

To register your student visit www.uifpgh.org/programs. This program is free to attend, and registration remains open throughout the school year.

Students across the North Side are starting this school year off on the right foot with some sweet rides. We had the honor of locking arms with several ministry partners to bless over 91 kids in the surrounding neighborhoods with brand-new bikes. Meeting families where they are opens the door to love like Jesus, even when it’s simply giving students easy ways to enjoy outdoor activities. Thank you to those who helped make this possible. It gives us great joy to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Our girls’ competitive basketball team finished another successful season! On and off the court, our coaches discipled each student to become holistically healthy followers of Christ. As a team, they studied the Book of Luke and learned to lean on God as their firm foundation in every circumstance. During the entire season, our students were eager to learn the gospel and understand how to walk by faith. The game isn’t all about how many 3-pointers or layups the players can make, but more importantly, it’s a space where students learn how to exemplify Christ through their love of basketball.

Another UI Media short film is coming your way in spring 2027! Inspired by Revelation 22, “Fine” tells the story of a girl who can’t see herself in the mirror and is faced with the question, “Who is the one standing at the door knocking?” Before production week began, our students participated in weekly devotionals. They learned that God is our Father, Savior, and Friend, knocking on the door of our heart.

Once it was time to roll the cameras, our students got to work proclaiming the power of God’s restorative love. Our acting and musical theater students made up most of the cast, while over 90% of the scenes and audio were shot by our video production students. 2 weeks and 6 locations later, we finished filming. Shoutout to all our partners who helped make this film possible. We couldn’t have done it without them! We’re especially grateful to CYCLEBAR North Hills for letting us use their facility. Every student worked incredibly hard, and we can’t wait to share this story with you.

Transforming lives one block at a time.

Across 4 North Side neighborhoods, over 1,000 students and families gathered this summer for free food, games, and giveaways. Best of all, we shared the gospel at each Block Party. By the end of the summer, 215 people dedicated their lives to Christ, and we handed out 290 Bibles. These nights not only gave us space to share God’s love, but also allowed us to introduce UIF to hundreds of families for the first time. Now, several Block Party students are involved in our programs this semester, where they will build relationships with our missionaries and grow closer to Jesus in a loving atmosphere.

First Step Fiesta was on fire! The night was filled with delicious tacos as the Options Department reminded 33 high school students that God has a purpose and a plan for their lives. We are beyond grateful to the college, trade, job, military, and ministry representatives who came. They led each student to schedule college tours, set up interviews, sign up for newsletters, and more.

During dinner, several career professionals shared their experiences navigating post-grad life, testifying to how God’s love and faithfulness carried them through their challenges and victories. By the end of the night, our students walked away feeling inspired to keep pursuing every opportunity God puts in front of them. We praise God for the 11 students who officially took their first step toward their future.

Special thanks to Bistro To Go Café & Catering for providing an amazing taco bar and to Tre.flicks for taking professional headshots for our students.
