Our high school students are growing into faith-filled leaders!

Over the summer, we led a group of students through Summer Immersion - a program designed to give each person a deeper understanding of how to become more like Jesus in their spiritual, professional, and personal lives. They participated in Bible Study, ministry training, professional development classes, and served alongside our Summer Day Camp counselors to build meaningful relationships with campers.

One of the greatest blessings was watching our students delight in God’s Word and find fulfillment in it every day. At first, sharing their testimonies and the gospel with others felt intimidating, but their confidence grew as we equipped them with the right tools to boldly step out in faith. Three students later courageously shared their testimonies in front of everyone at Summer Day Camp, and a few others willingly led Bible study for the last few weeks of Summer Immersion. Praise God!

First Step Fiesta was a huge success! 🌵🎉

We welcomed 19 community partners (our largest group yet) who inspired more than 40 of our students to explore new opportunities. We’re grateful to our panelists, who shared their experiences navigating life after high school. It was a blessing to hear how their faith and relationship with Jesus shaped their post-grad decisions. We especially thank our parents and missionaries for encouraging our students in every step. Shoutout to for the delicious dinner and Moe's Southwest Grill for the sweet raffle prizes.

From scheduling college visits to taking professional headshots, each student walked away with the right tools to keep pursuing God’s plans for their lives. We pray for peace and wisdom over them as they continue to discover who they are in Christ and how their gifts can be used for God’s glory.

193 students, 46 counselors, 7 weeks.

Summer Day Camp has come to a close, and we are in awe of God’s goodness. Every day, our team of college-aged counselors spent time investing in the lives of each student through outdoor activities, math and literacy classes, and Bible studies. We even saw the Lord bless our families. Soon, one of our camp parents will get baptized after seeing the way God transformed her child’s life during camp. Praise God!

We also had the privilege to lock arms with 7 high schoolers and 16 middle schoolers as they demonstrated servant leadership by supporting our counselors, serving meals, and discipling the next generation. A few of our high school students even shared their testimony in front of the entire camp.

We are beyond grateful for Allegheny Center Alliance Church for opening their doors to us this summer. Thank you, ACAC, for your amazing support and for helping us make sure no one went hungry. We also thank Keith Turnbull for welcoming us to his home for a special time of fellowship and our camp nurse, Miyha, who kept our kids safe and healthy.

All our counselors and staff were a huge blessing in furthering our mission. What an incredible camp season full of God’s love and grace!

Congratulations to all our high school graduates who won the Wiegand Morningstar Scholarship! As they get on the “bus” toward higher education, the funds received from this award will help them with the cost of college tuition, room and board, books, or other expenses. This a huge accomplishment and we can’t wait to see what God will continue to do in their lives.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

We recently organized a hands-on volunteer day at Zenshine Community Garden for a group of Perry High School seniors for their service-learning project. Students participated in beautifying the space by restoring raised garden beds, pulling weeds, raking leaves, and preparing the area for the upcoming growing season. This experience not only helped the community but also gave students a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a sustainable cause and learn about urban agriculture. We are proud of our students and all their hard work that goes into serving the North Side community for a better future.

Join us in congratulating Dozie Oparanozie, Manager of School Partnerships in the Options Department for being a recipient of the New Pittsburgh Couriers FAB 40 Under 40 award! This award recognizes young professionals making a significant impact in their fields. With this celebration he was able to secure sponsorships for two of our students to attend the awards gala. This gave them the opportunity to witness a professional networking environment, celebrate excellence in the Black community, and be inspired by leaders from across the region. Praise God, for Dozie and his heart to share the Lord’s victories in his life and create moments of student learning and engagement! 🎉🎉

New and exciting things are happening for our high schoolers! We recently expanded by offering a Driver’s Ed program to help our students take the necessary steps to earn their license.

Last week, we took three students to the DMV to complete the permit test and they all passed! Within the next few weeks, we will help them schedule their driving lessons with Cindy Cohen School of Driving. We want to thank our ministry partners who blessed us by supporting this program. Due to their generosity our students can take their lessons at no cost! We are thrilled as it is just the beginning of more to come in this new endeavor!

Last week, we hosted the Northside/Northshore Chamber of Commerce Coffee and Contacts networking event! We had a great time connecting with each business and sharing how they can get involved with us through First Step Fiesta, Scholarship & Pizza Night, Job Inc., and more.

We are thankful for their commitment to our community and partnering with us to make an impact in the lives of the youth we serve. Thank you Northside Northshore Chamber of Commerce for your partnership! It is a blessing to work alongside you.

Over the past few months our high school students participated in our Job Readiness classes to learn how they can glorify the Lord through their work and what they can do to prepare for adult life as a follower of Jesus.

During one of our Work as Worship classes our students practiced patching a tire to visually see how The Fall caused work to be difficult, but now we can lean on Jesus to get through the rough patches. In Adulting 101 students learned about professionalism, budgeting, financial literacy, and job interviewing. They were taught what it means to be an ambassador of Christ and how tithing is a powerful investment in God’s kingdom. We love building responsible followers of Christ!
