Veterans Health Foundation is proud to recognize BLEN as the Presenting Sponsor of our 35th Anniversary Celebration!🎉

A service-disabled Veteran-owned small business, BLEN builds digital tools that help government agencies modernize services through software development, human-centered design, data, and artificial intelligence.

Their work includes supporting building AI solutions to support veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies. BLEN also builds and open-source AI tools to help Veterans access clinical trials easily.

Do you or your family need dental, hearing or eye care* that is not covered by insurance or VA health care? Mark your calendars for Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh’s free clinic Oct. 16-17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Doors open at 6 a.m. Clinic begins at 7 a.m. Arrive early for brief, on-site registration. First-come, first-served. Door closes when capacity reached. Ages 2+.

No eligibility requirements or insurance needed.
• *Eye/vision services will be referred to on-site Vision Institute staff who will register you for an appointment at the Vision Institute’s Community Vision Day sister event, scheduled for Oct. 18, 2026, at the UPMC Mercy Pavilion, located at 1622 Locust Street in Uptown Pittsburgh. The sister event will be open only to MOMPGH patients.
• Dental services (on-site) include X-rays, cleanings, fillings, select root canals and limited extractions. (No crowns, extractions of exposed wisdom teeth, root canals on molars or full dentures.)
• Hearing services (on-site) include hearing evaluations; free hearing aids; hearing aid fittings, hearing aid batteries, access to free amplified or captioned phones, hearing aid troubleshooting and repair, and hearing protection.

During Su***de Prevention Month, we’re proud to recognize our Board Director and Development Chair, Lyndsay Tkach featured last week in USA TODAY ‘s piece on Wounded Warrior Project ‘s work to end Veteran su***de.

Through her work as Wounded Warrior Project’s Mental and Brain Services Director,Lyndsay emphasizes the importance of connecting veterans with support before a crisis occurs—and the role each of us can play in building stronger, more connected communities.

Lyndsay, thank you for your dedication to veterans and their families, and for bringing that commitment to your leadership at VHF. We’re grateful for the expertise, perspective, and heart you bring to our mission during September and throughout the year.

This September, Veterans Health Foundation turns 35. 💙

We began in 1991 as the Veterans Research Foundation of Pittsburgh, supporting research at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. In 2020, we became Veterans Health Foundation and expanded our infrastructure to support research and education at VA medical centers across our network: Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center,Wilmington VA Medical Center, Butler VA Health Care System-with more to come!

The name and reach have grown, but the reason for our work remains the same: helping bring research, education, and innovation closer to the Veterans they serve.

To the researchers, VA partners, staff, board members, Veterans, and supporters who have been part of these 35 years: thank you. We’re proud of what we’ve built together, and excited for what comes next!

We’re excited to welcome Kevin F. Quinn to our Administrative team!

Kevin brings an impressive background in federal grants management, economic development, banking, and public service, including 17 years with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, where he managed complex federal grant programs and investments supporting communities, universities, and regional growth.

A proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Kevin served as a Sergeant and Non-Commissioned Officer during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

We’re thrilled to have Kevin on board and look forward to the experience, perspective, and commitment to service he brings to VHF as we continue advancing Veteran-focused research, education, and innovation.

Clinical Research Nurse (RN) | $80,000–$110,000 | VA Pittsburgh

We’re looking for an experienced Clinical Research Nurse to join the Veterans Health Foundation team and support clinical trials at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System.

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for an RN who wants to take their clinical and research experience and put it to work on studies that directly impact the health and well-being of Veterans.

Clinical research and/or oncology experience is especially valuable.
