Today, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, we remember the powerful protection and intercession of Our Blessed Mother.
The Battle of Lepanto, fought on October 7, 1571, was a major naval battle in which the Holy League defeated the Ottoman fleet in the Gulf of Patras. Before the battle, Pope St. Pius V called Christians to pray the Rosary, asking for Our Lady’s intercession and protection. The Christian victory was attributed by many to Mary’s powerful intercession, and October 7 became the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, later known as Our Lady of the Rosary.
The story reminds us that when the battle feels overwhelming, we don’t have to face it alone. We can turn to Mary and place our trust in her Son.
The same is true in our marriage and family life. When life gets hard, heavy, or we find ourselves in the middle of a difficult season, turn to Our Lady of the Rosary. Pray a decade together. Pray for your spouse. Pray for your children. Ask Mary to lead your family closer to Christ.
Our Lady of the Rosary, we humbly ask you to place all marriages and families in your loving care and lead us always closer to Jesus.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
