Not everyone will foster or adopt. But that does not mean the rest of the Church gets to sit this one out.

Families who say yes need people around them. Children need advocates. Birth families need support. Maybe your part is providing a meal, giving financially, mentoring, helping with childcare, using your professional skills, or simply continuing to show up long after the initial excitement has passed.

This work was never meant to rest on one family. There is room for all of us to ask God, “What have You put in my hands, and how can I use it?”

Chosen
Sometimes the hardest part of saying yes is looking at what we have and knowing it isn’t enough.

Not enough money. Not enough resources. Maybe some days, not even enough faith. But God has never been limited by what is currently in our hands. He can provide through people, unexpected opportunities, generosity, and ways we never could have planned ourselves.

We see this in adoption all the time. A family says yes before they know how every piece will come together, and then the body of Christ gets an opportunity to become part of God’s provision. That is one of the reasons Chosen Ministries exists.

Don’t let what you can see today determine what you believe God can provide tomorrow.

There is a kind of preparation for adoption and foster care that has nothing to do with paperwork or getting a bedroom ready.

Sometimes God prepares the family before He brings the child. He touches places in us that still need healing, teaches us how trauma can shape behavior, and helps us become more aware of what a child may need when they enter our home.

You won’t be perfectly prepared. No amount of books, classes, or planning can teach you everything ahead of time. But the waiting season isn’t wasted. Let God do His work in you while you prepare to care well for the child He may place in front of you.

There are moments in adoption when the calling feels bigger than what you have. The finances aren’t there. The resources aren’t there. Some days, even the faith feels small.

But God sees the child on the other side of that yes too. He knew them before they were born. He has seen every day of their story, and He has not forgotten them.

That’s why we believe so deeply in coming alongside adoptive families through Chosen Ministries. When God calls a family forward, we want to help remove the financial barriers and be part of the provision they’ve been praying for.

Sometimes God’s answer to a family’s prayer is already being carried in the yes of someone else.

You may not feel ready for what God is asking of you. Most of us want the details first. We want to know how it will work, whether we can handle it, and what happens after we say yes.

But obedience often begins before those answers come.
We see this so often in adoption. Families feel the calling long before they can see the provision. That’s one reason Chosen Ministries offers adoption grants, so when a family is willing to take that step, finances don’t have to be what stops them.

Bring God your questions. Bring Him your fear. Then be faithful with the next yes He puts in front of you.

Fear has a way of convincing us that obedience should only happen when the outcome feels safe.

But following Jesus was never a promise of an easy life. Sometimes our yes leads us into uncertainty, sacrifice, and situations we never would have chosen on our own. We move forward because we know the One leading us.

For so many families, adoption and foster care begin right there. Not with certainty that everything will be easy, but with enough trust to say yes even when fear is still in the room.

What if foster care is connected to something God is awakening in the Church?

There are children in our own communities who need safe people willing to step closer. But this calling reaches beyond opening a home. Birth parents need support. Foster and adoptive families need people around them.

We want to see the Church ask God what He is doing in this space and then have the courage to join Him. There is room for so many different ways to say ‘yes’, and every one of them can carry the heart of the Father.

So many people hear “foster care” or “adoption” and count themselves out because bringing a child into their home isn’t possible. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for your yes.

Maybe it looks like respite care. A Friday night dinner. Supplies for a new placement. Giving toward an adoption grant. Showing up for a family who needs to know they aren’t doing this alone.

God is giving the Church an opportunity to be part of what He is doing through foster care and adoption. You don’t have to do everything. Ask Him what your part is, and start there.

You don’t have to open your home to have a meaningful role in family restoration.

Maybe your part is bringing dinner, helping with childcare, mentoring a child, giving financially, or checking in on a family long after everyone else has stopped asking how they’re doing. Small acts of faithfulness matter, especially when they become consistent.

No one person has to rebuild the whole family. The Church gets to do this together. Pay attention to what God has placed within your reach, and be faithful with your part.

Sometimes we look at someone else’s story and immediately think, “I could never do that.” But they started with just one yes.

God isn’t asking you to see the whole road ahead or do everything today. He’s asking whether you’ll trust Him with what He’s putting in front of you right now. One child. One family. One gift. One step of obedience.

This is the heart behind Chosen Ministries. Helping make room for the next yes, and then trusting God with what comes after it.
