Starr Garden Neighbors and Friends We are a park friends group, dedicated to improving Starr Garden park and programming. HOURS: Rec Center and bathrooms are open M-F 1-8pm.

Starr Garden Playground and Basketball Court is open daily. The Recreation Center and bathrooms are typically open Noon -
6pm Monday - Friday. Starr Garden Neighbors and Friends looks to revitalize the OLDEST playground in Philadelphia, and possible the East coast. It features a recreation center, two playgrounds, a large field, a picnic area, a basketball court, beautiful full grown trees, a f

ountain, murals and a sculpture. Our group formed to improve programming events, and we will look to begin to design and renovate the park, playground and ball field. Yes, the playground is gone and we are so excited about the new one coming soon. Here are answers to the top 2 Questions we are getting.
Q) Why were so many trees taken down?
A) Most of these trees were dead or dying and part of the renovation includes planting new trees.
Q) When will the work be complete?
A) We do not have an exact answer but the earliest will be sometime in July.
