While most ARTZ programs are on a brief hiatus in August, there is still so much news to share! A person with dementia will detect your mood. If you are feeling low, tired or frustrated, they will pick up on how you are feeling, regardless of what you say or how polite you are. They are not able to empathise with you ,which can upset them even more, so any contact with them is likely to be less than satisfactory or even disastrous! So if necessary, one will need to behave in a more positive caring way even when one does not feel like smiling.�

We are proud to announce that ARTZ Philadelphia has won two Philadelphia Inquirer Philly Favorite awards in 2026. We received a gold award in the “Arts and Culture Event’ category and a silver award in the “Alternative Therapies” category. So happy to celebrate and share this honor with our community!
