It’s been a long time since someone with HIV died without friends or family to mourn them.

Today six HIV service providers gathered to pay respects and spread the ashes of a man who was an Action Wellness PHL client, then a volunteer buddy, and ultimately a benefactor.

We were joined by his beloved dog, Mr. Luna, as he was returned to the earth at West Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Philadelphia FIGHT
AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania

We've just reached a milestone in PA by eliminating HIV from the criminal code. Last week, Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta and I held a press conference at Philadelphia FIGHT with AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania, Councilmember Rue Landau, and Rep. Andre D. Carroll, to highlight the advancements we've made to SB 45, and moments ago Governor Shapiro signed that legislation into law.

With Gov. Josh Shapiro's signature, Pennsylvania will eliminate the last criminal charges singling out people living with HIV.
