Free Healthier and More Efficient Homes!

Through the Equitable Building Decarbonization Program, we help homes become more efficient and healthier at no cost to you.

This program upgrades homes to be healthier, more comfortable, and better for the planet. Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve access to electric appliances and all their benefits for low-income California communities.

“Everything humans do affects our relationship to the environment.” Read Resilient Adaptation Associate Theo Gress’s blog post now to learn about his perspective on how intertwined ecology is with every part of our world and each individual’s contributions thereto, as well as how CRC’s work fills a critical space in that realm.

Last week, the Eastside San Jose Climate Change Community Team executed their priority project based on air quality. They partnered with Bright Action Communities and Overfelt High School to invite local families to an air quality educational workshop and receive a free air purifier to help mitigate the Hillview Airport’s impact on their air quality 💨

28 families went home with helpful information and a tangible resource to help their air quality at home 🎉

Thank you to San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI), Bright Action Communities (BAC), the YMCA in SJ, Bay Area Air District, San Jose Clean Energy, Climate Smart, BayREN, Our City Forest, Peter Ortiz and staff, and many volunteers who made the event possible! 💚

Earlier this year, Belle Haven CCCT hosted its first Home Gardening Workshop, bringing residents together to build food sovereignty and expand access to healthy, affordable food.

Held at Collective Roots Community Garden, neighbors learned the basics of home gardening and received supplies like soil, seeds, and planter boxes to get started. 🪴🌿

To top it off, 20 residents went home with new fruit trees! Thank you Canopy for your support and generous donation to the Belle Haven community. 🌳✨

We were thrilled to join Resilient San Bruno in hosting the first-ever San Bruno Rooted in Resilience Fair last weekend at the Belle Air Elementary School 🎉

With 18 tables, 6 activities, 46 raffle prizes, 70 disaster prep kits, 2 workshops, 13 volunteers and 270 meals distributed, we were grateful to reach and support our community.

There is much more to share, but for now we’re excited to share an article from journalist Anna Hoch-Kenney about the fair, linked in our bio or at tinyurl.com/PenPressResFair 🌱

Trash Clean Up, Zumba and Community! 💃🩷🌎

This month, our Measure AA community engagement partners hosted a trash cleanup and Zumba workshop at Cooley Landing. Our attendees had a wonderful time, working outdoors and moving their bodies during the Zumba class led by Corina Patiño. 🪩🪇

Through Measure AA funding, in partnership with Grassroots Ecology, we are bringing our neighbors together to activate, restore, and care for spaces like Cooley Landing in East Palo Alto! 💚
