Day 1 at the Pacific Innovation Forum on Climate and Environment in Vanuatu! 🇻🇺

Our team proudly presented our East Palo Alto Rain Garden Project, a community-driven initiative that has partnered with 25 homeowners to install 25 rain gardens, investing more than $1 million into the community while helping build climate resilience.

One of the highlights of the day was connecting with inspiring leaders, innovators, and organizations from across the Pacific who are developing creative solutions to address the region's unique climate and environmental challenges. The exchange of ideas and experiences has been incredibly valuable to our team, and we're excited to continue learning and collaborating throughout the week! 🌱

We're grateful to be part of this important conversation and look forward to what the rest of the forum has in store!

Thank you to the Government of Vanuatu, the Ministry of Climate Change, SPREP, the Pacific Climate Change Centre, and V-Lab for putting together this wonderful forum.

It’s true, CRC is in Vanuatu! 🤍🇻🇺

We're honored to be the only organization from the United States at the Pacific Innovation Forum on Climate & Environment, hosted by the Government of Vanuatu Ministry of Climate Change Vanuatu, Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme - SPREP, the PCCC Knowledge Brokers, and V-Lab.

As part of this year's theme, Innovation, we're proud to share our East Palo Alto Rain Garden Project, a community-driven initiative demonstrating how local climate action creates lasting impact.

So far, the project has:
💧 Partnered with 25 homeowners
🌿 Installed 25 rain gardens
💚 Invested over $1 million into the East Palo Alto community

This work would not be possible without our incredible partners: Fresh Approach, High Tide Intelligence, and Grassroots Ecology

Special thanks to the d.school for its support, and to our funder, the California State Coastal Commission, for helping make this work possible.

From East Palo Alto to the Pacific, we're excited to exchange ideas, learn from regional leaders, and build climate solutions together!

Last week, the Eastside San Jose Climate Change Community Team executed their priority project based on air quality. They partnered with Bright Action Communities and Overfelt High School to invite local families to an air quality educational workshop and receive a free air purifier to help mitigate the Hillview Airport’s impact on their air quality 💨

28 families went home with helpful information and a tangible resource to help their air quality at home 🎉

Thank you to San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI), Bright Action Communities (BAC), the YMCA in SJ, Bay Area Air District, San Jose Clean Energy, Climate Smart, BayREN, Our City Forest, Peter Ortiz and staff, and many volunteers who made the event possible! 💚
