What does it really take to turn a home into an all-electric, low-carbon household?

For Marin Green@Home Tour host Fabrice Florin and his wife, Phyllis, it took six years—one step at a time.

Their latest story on the Acterra blog follows their six-year electrification journey and what they learned along the way. Now, they’re opening their doors so you can see their journey in person.

Join us for the Marin Green@Home Tour on August 29, 11 AM–3 PM, and explore their home alongside other sustainable homes across Marin County.

August is Make-A-Will Month — and this year, it carries special meaning for Acterra.

This June, Acterra received the largest gift in our 56-year history: a transformational unrestricted estate gift from Bay Area architect James “Jim” Guthrie.

We didn’t know Jim well. Like many planned gifts, his began quietly — with someone who believed in the work we do and chose to make that belief part of his legacy.

Jim loved classic cars, played golf with friends and neighbors, and was remembered for his generosity and welcoming spirit. He also believed that a healthy planet was worth investing in — not only during his lifetime, but beyond it.

By including Acterra in his estate plans, Jim created a legacy that will help strengthen our organization, expand our programs, deepen our work in frontline communities, and support a healthier, more sustainable future for years to come.

Planned giving doesn’t require great wealth. It starts with deciding what matters to you and putting that intention in writing.

This Make-A-Will Month, we invite you to consider the causes and communities you want to support for generations to come.

We are deeply grateful to Jim for choosing Acterra.

🌱 Introducing Acterra’s FY2027–FY2030 Strategic Plan

We’re excited to share the next chapter of Acterra’s work: a four-year roadmap to expand climate solutions, strengthen our organization, and deepen our impact across the Bay Area.

This plan comes at a time of change and uncertainty for many environmental organizations. But it also represents an opportunity to strengthen how we work, grow our partnerships, and continue delivering solutions that make a difference in our communities.

Over the next four years, we’ll focus on:

🌿 Strengthening our organization for long-term impact
🌿 Improving how we communicate and connect with our communities
🌿 Deepening our work with frontline and multilingual communities

We’re grateful to everyone who has been part of Acterra’s journey — our staff, partners, volunteers, funders, and community members. Together, we’re building a healthier, more resilient, and equitable Bay Area.
