Sir Charles has been released from hospitalization! He is eating and drinking on his own and well on the road to recovery. His electrical burns are already looking better than last week. 🐱

His $950 bill has been paid but it has totally wiped out our rescue’s funds and we need help offsetting the cost!

Polly pocket update!🌸

Her one eye and one nostril are not slowing her down one bit! She’s doing wonderfully and acclimating to her foster siblings, both a dog and cats, really well. And as purr usual, shes the biggest cuddle bug and we are enjoying having her cute little self around! 🩷

(Trap-Neuter-Return) is a humane and effective form of population control for feral/community cats (a term for unowned outside cats) 🐱✂️🏀

But at Alley Cats we don’t just sterilize them. We also; Ear-Tip (a universal sign a cat has been fixed) Vaccinate for Rabies & FVRCP, deworm, apply flea & tick prevention, and finally microchip them. 💉

After recovery they are returned to where they were trapped. TNR stops breeding & inbreeding, improves health, reduces fighting, doesn’t cause a vacuum effect like other methods of population control and ultimately prevents so much suffering. 🖤

Part of the world of Animal Welfare is people who don’t agree with your mission or beliefs.

Especially online… and that’s okay. Usually I either respond nicely once (while trying to see some of their perspective-they are often advocating for animals in their own way) or I just ignore the comments entirely.

And then sometimes I make a silly reel because it genuinely made me laugh out loud 🤷🏼‍♀️ Anyways thank you for the engagement and video idea George.

🌴A little throw back to trapping in North Florida where I’ve personally seen TNR programs put a measurable dent in the community cat populations across the state.

Its a whole different ball game out here in West Texas. Stray populations are absurd and the animal crisis is BAD. Worst of all i don’t have my trusty trapping sidekick as seen in this video.

But you know whats not different?

The fact that 95% of people i meet in Rescue and TNR… are women.

Really amazing and resilient women who see a problem, and step up to help solve it. Who work together towards a common goal regardless of differences of opinions. And who have taught me some of the most valuable lessons in life, and animal welfare.

So yea…girls really do run the world 🌎

⭐️ Some West Texas TNR for your 🤠

Sometimes I remember to film not only the trap but also the return! And then they sit in my camera roll until i remember to put a video together. So enjoy some footage of community cats being trapped and then returned after sterilization, vaccinations and ear tips!

In the month of August Alley Cats helped with the Trap-Neuter-Return of 12 community cats across the Permian Basin! And none of it is possible without our community support. Thank you to everyone who’s helped the nonprofit get to this point! Lets keep it going 🖤
