Permian Basin Honor Flight Announces 3rd Annual Veteran Sporting Clays Tournament
MIDLAND, TEXAS — The Permian Basin Honor Flight, in partnership with the Chevron Midland Veteran Employee Network, will host the 3rd Annual Permian Basin Honor Flight Veteran Sporting Clays Tournament on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Jake’s Clays in Midland, Texas.
The tournament raises funds to support the Permian Basin Honor Flight’s mission to transport local veterans to Washington, D.C., where they can visit memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
Founded in 2014, Permian Basin Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization that honors veterans from the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War eras, and terminally ill veterans from any era. These trips allow veterans to reflect on their service, remember fallen comrades, and share the experience with fellow veterans, all at no cost to the veteran.
The sporting clays tournament welcomes both experienced shooters and first-time participants. Teams of four shooters will rotate through a course featuring multiple shooting stations designed to simulate the flight patterns of game birds.
Event highlights include:
• Breakfast and lunch for participants
• Competitive team shooting
• Trophy awards
• Opportunity drawings and prizes
• Corporate sponsorship opportunities
“Sponsorships and team participation in this event directly help us ensure our local veterans receive the honor and recognition they deserve,” said organizers from Permian Basin Honor Flight.

Harold Lee McCullough was on our October 2025 mission to DC. He entered the US Air Force in November of 1952. He worked in airplane electronics. He was chosen to lay the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
