Korean K9 Rescue

Korean K9 Rescue We’re a 501(c)(3) creating a better future for homeless and mistreated dogs in South Korea. We are a group of volunteers in New York City.

We work in partnership with local and regional South Korean dog rescues/activists and high kill shelters. Many of our dogs come from the brutal dog meat trade and are also puppy mill survivors. None of these dogs will get adopted in their homeland of South Korea because of the stigma of "mixed" dogs. So we bring them to New York City for a second chance at a loving forever home. We are also workin

g to end the dog meat trade in Korea where over 2.5 million dogs a year are tortured and slaughtered for consumption because of the belief that tortured dog meat gives medicinal benefits. Our Movement is creating awareness and pressure on the South Korean to put an end to this brutal trade. We stand with the Korean animal activist and rescuers in Korea. A portion of the adoption fee goes back to these groups in Korea. Please email us at [email protected] for more information and follow us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KoreanK9Rescue/

Yes yes we know you’ve been waiting for this one 🙂‍↕️

Mira is a 4 year old, 9lb Coton de Tulear! Sweet girl was rescued during Operation Freedom Paws last year, where our Lucy’s Law coalition of rescue groups pulled over 300 dogs from an illegal puppy mill in Ganghwado. The conditions were nightmarish and it’s incredible to see these dogs with so much joy after what they’ve been through.

Mira can be a little shy and timid at first, but once she’s given time and space to warm up at her own pace she’ll be your bestest friend. She’s been working hard on crate training and potty training with her foster - and has even gotten the hang of off leash time in the park! (Special appearance from Pollo, another adoptable pup!)

Though small and very sweet, Mira needs a home willing to give her time and structure so she continues to live the happiest life she can lead. With continued work from her trainer, Mira will defy all odds and steal the hearts of many.

Run to that link in our bio and submit your application. We strongly encourage interviewing virtually before the event too! Don’t miss out !

This little brindle babe is Choi~ She’s 1 year old, 9 whole pounds, and yes, that’s the most adorable snaggle tooth you’ll ever see. Choi was rescued from a city shelter our team holds close to our hearts in Gangneung, South Korea. With the overpopulation of dogs in Korea, and lack of funding for shelters, they have no option but to put dogs - even as small as Choi - on the euthanasia list to make room for more incoming.

Since her arrival in NYC, Choi has charmed her foster family and neighbors with her cute looks and bouncy personality. She quickly warmed up to her people and though she hasn’t quite figured out what a cat is, she’s managing! With patience we’re sure she could be a feline (or canine) friend for life. She loves lounging next to people or independently playing with any toy in her reach. Crate training is also going swimmingly but of course consistency is key!

On the busy city streets, Choi is still figuring things out though. She’s getting better day by day, and there’s definitely more pep in that step! With confidence boosting and time this little gal will be queen of the neighborhood.

The CHOIce is yours (bad pun, we know) - but make sure you submit your application before the event! You can even interview virtually to get a head start on your pre-approval to adopt.

Goodness me, it’s Schnee!

This one of a kind guy is Schnee (슈네) and he’s just 1 year old and 22lbs. Believe it or not, he was pulled from the Nonsan city shelter euthanasia list. Despite their best efforts to get dogs adopted, adoption rates in Korea are extremely low; with the overcrowding many dogs just like Schnee end up on the euthanasia list. But now this cute scruffy little guy is ready to go home with his one true forever family.

Schnee is a pretty happy go lucky guy and is learning the ways of city living in good stride. He’s a big fan of scritches, so much that he’ll rub against buildings during his walks to get that goooood scritch (if you know what we mean). Aside from his silly wall hugging and avoiding subway grates (who doesn’t) he’s an excellent walker and keeps a relaxed pace. His little ears bopping with every step and tail gently wiggling keeps everyone in good spirits too.

Inside, Schnee is learning the joys of being alone and sometimes that’s a process. With continued support and a good routine, Schnee will be an absolute pro though! His future home is someone willing to keep strong and help him in this soul searching journey. (So the neighbors don’t complain)!

Is this scruffy dude calling your name? We knew he would!

Come meet Schnee and all of our adorable adoptables this weekend.

The stunning Miso is ready to bask in her glory~!

Sweet and silly girl Miso is 4 years young and 35lbs of sleek silvery fur. She was rescued last year during the Andong Wildfires in South Korea, where we helped pull animals from the flames and ashes.

After having time to recoup at our training center in Bundang, Miso is on to better and brighter things. She only just arrived but is already flourishing in her foster home. Miso adores people and regularly flops her head back to admire her fosters as they walk. As the days go on, she’s also learning the lean tactic to get pets, and finding her favorite spots in the apartment. She’s a prime investigator though and will always give a thorough sniffing of the area before settling in.

Miso equally has a silly playful side and could play catch-no-return all day if you’d let her! She’s been soaking up the sun and rolling in the freshly mowed grass, just as any pup should. Inside and out, Miso is just a sweet and fun gal. With continued training and giving her outlets to play, she’s sure to give a lifetime of laughs.

Still contemplating? Okay okay, Miso is also eligible for our Jindo Journey training stipend! This means her adopters could receive $300 towards their required training with one of our vetted trainers! There’s only good things to come from adopting this girl.

Betcha’ never seen a bunny this big!

This bunny boy is Tokki which means rabbit in Korean - with those ears that name is spot on. He’s 55lbs and 6 years old and truly the most perfect pup in every way.

Tokki loves everything and everyone. He’s happy to be included or totally fine chilling at home while you run errands. He’s doing fantastic with his crate training, walks perfectly on leash (albeit a little on the slow side, my guy does not love exercise), and is so adaptable and easy to please.

He’s been thriving in foster care but we know deep down he’s eager to find his forever family. Tokki loves the simple things in life like a chill spot to lay or a tasty snack alongside good company. We can’t stress enough how easy going he is though - he even took a train to the suburbs with his foster and just laid under the seat the whole ride there.

Tokki is the perfect companion for anyone really so don’t wait too long to apply for him! Whoever adopts this boy has cuddles and relaxed adventures in their future and you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to call this boy your own.

There’s definitely no need to formally introduce Smoky, but here we go~

Smoky is a Pomeranian estimated to be 4 years old and 7 lbs. She only just arrived so while she’s still settling into the NYC grind, she’s already showing her personality. She was rescued from the pet store in Gangnam last November when we discovered an illegal and inhumane breeding operation behind closed doors.

Since her arrival in the big city, Smoky has been non-stop laughs. She’s a little ditzy and we love her for that. Inside she’s very set in her ways, almost following an invisible line around her foster’s apartment like an ant. Be mindful of where you step too, she loves to sploot in the middle of pathways and honestly looks a bit like a slipper if you’re not paying attention. Smoky also over-exaggerates how tiny she is - anything even 1cm off the ground requires her to amp up for a big leap. Okay you ARE the drama, queen!

Outside, Smoky needs some confidence building, but she’s at least very observant of her surroundings. To make sure she keeps healthy and active, her forever home should remain consistent in encouraging her to walk around and explore the neighborhood.

We know we don’t have to push it, but hey tap the link in our bio and apply for this little lady.

Please keep in mind that DMs about adopting Smoky or any related questions will not be answered - we don’t have access into the approval process, we just do funny posts.
