AASP — Creating Pathways to New Careers 🎓
A new country shouldn't mean leaving your career dreams behind.
Through the America’s Allies Scholarship Program (AASP), AFF and have awarded $215,000 in scholarships to 41 Afghan and Iraqi Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders pursuing degrees, professional certifications and career training in the United States.

VBB — From Incubation to Independence
What started as an AFF initiative is now an independent nonprofit supporting refugee entrepreneurs across borders!
Since 2023, Ventures Beyond Borders has trained more than 300 refugee founders from over 12 countries, with accelerator programs in four cities: New York, Washington, D.C., Toronto and Berlin.

Afghan voices belong in global conversations. 🌍
QSAP scholar Raihana Sattari is making hers heard while helping amplify voices that often go unheard.

Recently, at the in Geneva, she helped bring diverse perspectives to the table, moderating discussions among more than 100 young people and experts from around the world.

Many Afghans living abroad have female family members or friends back home who no longer have access to . Some carry that pain with them. Others find ways to do something about it.

Mahdia is one of them.

She received a fully funded scholarship through the Qatar Scholarship for Afghans Project (QSAP) to study at the University of Mississippi, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science. Today, she is a teacher, mentor and coordinator at a Montessori school.

But her work doesn't stop there. Mahdia founded Marginalized Individuals Mentorship, a civic project through which she mentors girls in and helps them explore educational opportunities.

Five years ago, Albania welcomed thousands of Afghans forced to leave their country after the fall of Kabul. Last month, some of them had the chance to sit down with members of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders community and share where those journeys have taken them since.

They shared their experiences and made new connections in the place they’ve called home for the past five years.

AFF was glad to help bring these conversations together and reconnect with a community that has been part of our work since 2021.

Every day, we receive emails from people in Afghanistan who want to continue their education, especially girls who are currently denied access to education.

All they want is a little support to make their education possible: help with tuition, visa fees or scholarship opportunities. But as much as we would love to support every individual who reaches out to us, AFF operates through established programs with our partners, and our support is limited to those active programs. AFF cannot provide direct financial assistance to individuals, including funding for college or university tuition, visa or travel costs, relocation or evacuation services, or humanitarian assistance.

We’re always happy to hear from you and answer questions that are not already addressed on our website. Please review our current programs before reaching out, and contact us with inquiries related to AFF’s work.

Barin felt depressed after moving to the U.S., being far away from her loved ones and trying to find her feet in a new country and a new education system, all while holding on to big dreams.

One thing that helped her through it was exercise. Then she thought, there must be more newcomers out there struggling with the same things on their own. That’s when she started Move and Rise, her civic engagement project.
