How does a landscape bear witness to the lives shaped within it?

Join us at BCA HQ for the opening reception of "Landscape as Witness: Lived Experience in the Bronx", a Longwood Arts Project exhibition exploring how the borough's streets, housing, infrastructure, waterfronts, and neighborhoods reflect stories of memory, labor, community, and change.

Through painting, photography, installation, and interdisciplinary practice, ten artists with deep connections to the Bronx examine the ways lived experience continually reshapes the landscape of the borough.

We’re excited to announce that BCA Executive Director Jesús López Jensen has been selected as a 2026 National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) () Fellow! The NLI is an immersive, weeklong professional development program for arts administrators and cultural workers to strengthen skills in nonprofit leadership and build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with peers across the field. Jesús is representing the Bronx as one of 14 leaders from the United States and Puerto Rico in this year’s cohort.

A proud member of the Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities, Jesús leads all efforts to further BCA’s mission to support Bronx artists by building strong connections, providing resources, and advocating for equitable practices in the arts and culture field.

Jesús expands his thoughts below:

“As a Latinx/é leader of an arts and culture organization in the Bronx, NYC’s only majority Latinx/é borough, participating in the 2026 NALAC Leadership Institute will help connect me to critical narratives impacting our communities and to develop and deepen relationships with other Latinx/é leaders across the country.”

Congratulations to Jesús and all fellows! Learn more about Jesús and read the full announcement here: https://buff.ly/IVZINkw

BCA is proud to have partnered with the NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary Program on their first ever Harlem River Artist Residency. Through this unique partnership, Bronx artist Alethea Pace conducted a year-long performance residency based on the history and story of the Harlem River.

Through film, performance, and dialogue, the culminating event explored the Harlem River as a living system shaped by history, memory, and community.

Grounded in months of engagement along the river, the work shows how art and storytelling can deepen connections to local waterways—and inspire new approaches to stewardship and resilience.

Thank you to our community partners: The Bronx Museum, South Bronx Unite, BXArts Factory, New Roots Community Farm.
