What a day! 🍂✨ We celebrated City of Forest Day at Loreto Playground with an absolute blast of a Nature Trek! City of Forest Day is all about appreciating and caring for the incredible trees and urban canopy that make NYC a greener place to live. 🌳💚
Here is what our awesome community accomplished today:
🗺️ Conquered the nature scavenger hunt
🍁 Collected leaves & created beautiful leaf rubbings
🖍️ Decorated the pavement with “I love trees” chalk art
🗑️ Picked up trash to keep our park beautiful
🌳 Composted, mulched, and protected 4 vital tree beds!
A massive THANK YOU to all the parents who joined us, and a special shoutout to our Youth Squad Team Leaders, Jaiden & Devin, for stepping up and guiding the way! 👏👏 Thank you for keeping Loreto Playground green and beautiful!

We attended this event last year at Loreto Playground and it was such a hit! Time to put away the screens and get our bodies moving! Plus you get to enjoy the freshly painted walls from our recent National Cleanup Day event in honor of Patrolman Alfred Loreto!

THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM! 🌟
After two cancellations, we finally got our day—and what a day it was! Especially on National Cleanup Day!

Friends of Loreto Playground is incredibly proud and humbled by the turnout for our Painting & Beautification Event yesterday. What started as an idea to show some love to our neighborhood park turned into something much bigger.

🙌 MORE THAN 100 VOLUNTEERS SHOWED UP!
Building trade unions, NYPD, community organizations, church & youth groups, students, parents, elected officials, and neighbors all came together to honor NYPD Patrolman Alfred Loreto by caring for the playground bearing his name.

🧹 GETTING TO WORK
Walls were scraped and painted, and the park was swept clean. We had so many volunteers that we actually ran out of paint and had to make an unexpected supply run—a great problem to have!

❤️ THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE IT HAPPEN
Seeing our community united, made every phone call, meeting, and rescheduled date completely worth it. Thank you to every volunteer, organization, sponsor, and leader who showed up, worked hard, or supported us behind the scenes. We couldn’t have done it without you.

🚀 WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED!
This isn't the finish line—it's just the beginning. Friends of Loreto Playground is working toward continued stewardship, more programming, and major investments for our park.
