🚨 Deadline Approaching: July 1, 2026 🚨

In accordance with City Council Law 75 (passed in 2009), roll-down security grilles installed after July 1, 2011 at storefront businesses located on a sidewalk must provide at least 70% visibility by July 1, 2026.

Solid, closed-off security grilles make our streets darker and less inviting. Requiring 70% visibility helps keep our neighborhoods safer, brighter, and more welcoming for everyone.

This law applies to buildings classified as: β€’ Occupancy Group B (Business)
β€’ Occupancy Group M (Mercantile)

Please check your Certificate of Occupancy. For a full list of business types included in Occupancy Groups B and M, refer to NYC Building Code (BC) 304.

If your roll-down gate was installed after July 1, 2011, you must come into compliance by July 1, 2026.

Let’s work together to build a more beautiful city β€” one storefront at a time. πŸ™οΈβœ¨
