After taking some time to enjoy the holidays together, we are getting ready to get our service kicked back into gear!

Throughout January, we'll be donating blood and platelets for National Blood Donor Month. We encourage you to donate "with" us by joining the Kiwanis International team on the American Red Cross app.

In February, we'll be returning to help with meal service at the Leonard Covello Older Adult Program in Manhattan. Reach out to us if you would like to join us!

to our first time donating as a club at New York Blood Center back in 2010! Our members have donated blood, platelets, and plasma for 13 years and counting.

If you're willing and able, please consider becoming a blood donor. There's a nationwide shortage and 1 donation can save up to 3 lives.

You can also donate "with" us from anywhere by joining the Kiwanis International Team on the American Red Cross app!

Besides donating much-needed blood, another way you can show solidarity during the current blood shortage crisis is by supporting the study of gender neutral blood donor eligibility criteria that would allow more members of society to donate blood safely. We have a limited number of postcards that we will mail for anyone who e-signs with their message of support. A GoogleForm was sent out with our October meeting reminder. If you are a member who did not receive the link and would like to participate, please contact us.

In addition to kicking off a new year, January also marks .

If you are healthy, willing, and able, we encourage you to consider donating blood. A single donation can save up to 3 lives and blood donations are needed now more than ever, as a national blood crisis has been declared for the first time in recorded history.

In NY and parts of NJ, you can donate through New York Blood Center (www.nybloodcenter.org). Elsewhere, you can look for a local drive with the American Red Cross (www.redcrossblood.org/give). Some local hospitals also allow you to donate directly to them.

Celebrate AND kick off the new year with an act of good! Give blood and help patients in need!
