📸 A few moments from the 7th IFSCC Benefactors’ Event in Hangzhou.

Behind every great event are the people who show up — and some of our Praesidium members were there in full force, leading conversations, connecting with the community, and representing IFSCC on the ground in China.

Thank you to Dr. Isabelle Castiel-Higounenc, Robert H.A. McPherson, Dr. Remo Campiche, PhD, Dr. Sungho Lee and Dr. Fan Yang for your presence, leadership and for everything you bring to our global community.

And a big thank you to China Society of Cosmetic Chemists for organizing such a memorable event. These are the moments that make our global community real. 🌏

🔴 Happening today…

Join us for our IFSCC webinar: "Inorganic UV Filters in Sunscreens: Photocatalysis & Performance"

Today we'll explore how zinc oxide and titanium dioxide perform under real-world Australian UV conditions — from the lab to the beach — and what that means for sunscreen safety and formulation design.

⏰ Starting soon — 7:00pm Sydney

🌏 Global cosmetic science exchange in action.

Last May, our Gold Benefactor Chicmax organized the China Anti-Aging Industry Integration Conference in Shanghai — and IFSCC was proud to be part of it.

Through our Benefactor Programme, which supports IFSCC Benefactors in organizing scientific events, we were able to bring two experts to the table:

→ Richard Leroux, who delivered a keynote on Peptides and Skin Longevity — from basic research to innovative applications
→ Simon Chan, who participated in on-site industry and technical exchanges throughout the event

This kind of collaboration is exactly what the Benefactor Programme is designed for — bridging scientific communities, fostering knowledge exchange, and connecting the global cosmetic science world across borders.

Thank you Chicmax for making this happen.

🌞 One week to go — and this one is not to miss.

If you work with sunscreens, formulate with inorganic UV filters, or just want to understand what really happens when a sunscreen meets Australian-grade UV — this webinar is for you.

"Inorganic UV Filters in Sunscreens: Photocatalysis & Performance"

Nuwangi Cooray, PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong, will share research that bridges the gap between lab cuvettes and real skin — combining photocatalysis assays with outdoor UV measurements taken at the beach under extreme UV Index conditions.

Because sunscreen performance doesn't stop at the lab door.

Exciting news from our friends at SCCJ!

The Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Japan is hosting its 4th Annual Congress from 24–26 November 2026 at the Kobe International Conference Center.

Theme: "Bridging Innovation — Shaping the Future of Cosmetics through Integration"

We’re pleased to share that our Education Chair, Dr. Fan Yang, will be delivering a special lecture on Chinese cosmetics technology trends, recent industrial innovations, and the global future of cosmetic science.

And for the first time ever, the SCCJ Annual Congress will feature a dedicated panel discussion for students — a space designed to give young scientists a deeper look into the industry and inspire the next generation of cosmetic science talent. Exactly the kind of initiative IFSCC is proud to support!

From AI & facial recognition to bio-inspired material — this looks like a congress not to miss.

☀️ Does your sunscreen really perform under extreme UV?

Australia has some of the highest UV levels in the world — and the skin cancer rates to match. Sunscreens are a critical line of defence, but how well do real formulations actually hold up under the conditions consumers encounter every day?

Join us for our next IFSCC webinar: "Inorganic UV Filters in Sunscreens: Photocatalysis & Performance"

Nuwangi Cooray, PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong's Australian Institute for Innovative Materials, will take us through a fascinating combination of lab testing and real outdoor measurements taken at North Wollongong beach — under high, very high, and extreme UV Index conditions.

Expect a deep dive into:
→ The photocatalytic activity of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in real formulations
→ How SPF, critical wavelength, and filter efficiency translate into actual UV dose reaching the skin
→ What trade-offs exist between broad-spectrum protection, photostability, and photocatalytic side-reactions

This one is for cosmetic chemists, formulators, and researchers who want evidence-based sunscreen science — not just theory.

✏️ 40 essays. One winner. A trip to Perth.

We are thrilled to share that 40 essays have been submitted for the IFSCC Young Scientist Essay Award in honor of Maison G de Navarre — and the level of talent we are seeing from the next generation of cosmetic scientists is truly inspiring.

The winner will be announced at the end of July, and they will be heading to the 2026 IFSCC Congress in Perth, Australia — courtesy of the IFSCC.

To every young scientist who submitted — thank you. Your curiosity, dedication, and passion for cosmetic science is exactly what this award was created to celebrate.

Who will it be? Stay tuned. 🌟

🌎 Sharing IFSCC with the next generation of cosmetic scientists!

Our Praesidium Member, Dr. Silvia Haydée Pérez Damonte, recently presented on IFSCC at 3 leading universities in Lima, Peru — Universidad Norbert Wiener, Universidad Científica del Sur, and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos — as part of the in-person course "Cosmetic Efficacy with an Ethical and Scientific Approach".

Dr. Pérez Damonte shared her expertise on cosmetic efficacy, clinical research, and ethical methodologies — and made a strong case for why joining your local Society and IFSCC is worth it: access to a global network, opportunities to present your research, grow professionally, and become part of a worldwide community spanning over 78 countries.

A big thank you to the Peruvian Association of Cosmetic Chemists (APQC) for promoting scientific education and professional development within the Latin American cosmetic science community.

This is exactly what IFSCC is about — knowledge, community, and the future of our science.
