The Uniformed Fire Officers Association proudly celebrates Juneteenth, honoring freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality for all.

The Uniformed Fire Officers Association solemnly remembers the three FDNY members who made the Supreme Sacrifice 25 years ago in the tragedy now known as the Father’s Day Fire.

On June 17, 2001, Firefighter John J. Downing of Ladder 163 and Firefighters Brian D. Fahey and Harry S. Ford of Rescue 4 were killed following an explosion while operating at a fire in a hardware store on Astoria Boulevard in Queens.

The three firefighters left behind eight children. Today, we honor their courage, their service and their sacrifice, and we keep their families, friends and fellow FDNY members in our thoughts.
