On Wednesday at St. John’s University, the FDNY proudly promoted members to various leadership ranks, including Deputy Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Fire Marshal, Marine Wiper, and Marine Pilot.

The Uniformed Fire Officers Association congratulates all of the members promoted and wishes them continued success as they take on new responsibilities and leadership roles within our great Department.

We especially congratulate UFOA Board Member Jack Spillane on his promotion to Deputy Chief, and former UFOA Board Member Michael Tracey on his promotion to Battalion Chief.

Your dedication, leadership, and service are a credit to the FDNY and to the members you represent and lead.

It is with deep regret that the Uniformed Fire Officers Association announces the death of active, off-duty Firefighter Karan P. Thadhani, Ladder 135, who passed away on May 24, 2026.

Firefighter Thadhani served our great Department with dedication and distinction for 9 years.

The Uniformed Fire Officers Association honors the memory of Timothy Klein on the fourth anniversary of his line-of-duty death.

Firefighter Klein is remembered for his bravery, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others. His legacy continues through the lives he touched and the example he set for generations of firefighters.

Today, we pause to remember his sacrifice and give thanks for his service.

We keep the Klein family, the members of FDNY Ladder 170, and all who knew him in our thoughts and prayers.

The Uniformed Fire Officers Association regrets to announce the passing of retired Firefighter Declan A. Grant, Ladder 48, who lost his battle with a World Trade Center-related illness on April 15, 2026.

Firefighter Grant dedicated 27 years of service to the Fire Department of the City of New York, exemplifying commitment, courage, and unwavering service to both his fellow firefighters and the communities he protected.
