From period-tracking apps used as surveillance tools to algorithmic censorship of menstrual health content, technology is reshaping menstrual health in ways that demand a critical, rights-affirming response.

Harnessing Technology, Challenging Inequity: A Global South Perspective on Menstrual Health brings together civils society organizations representatives to examine how technology can and should advance menstrual health and dignity, while interrogating the risks it poses when not designed or governed in ways that protect people’s rights.

Organized by Fòs Feminista and Education as a Vaccine, and co sponsored by the Permanent mission of Uruguay, on the sidelines of CPD59.

The 59th Session of the Commission on Population and Development is happening next week, April 13–17!

Fos Feminista and partners are convening a series of side events under this year’s theme: Population, technology, and research in the context of sustainable development.

These sessions will unpack how technology is shaping s*xual and reproductive health and rights, tackling menstrual health, access to services, adolescent health, bodily autonomy, and beyond. Together, we will explore both the possibilities and the risks of technology in advancing SRHRJ, grounded in Global South and feminist perspectives.

The Women’s Rights Caucus welcomes the adoption of the CSW70 Agreed Conclusions under the priority theme: ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices, and addressing structural barriers.

For the first time in the Commission’s history, consensus proved unattainable and Member States proceeded to adoption by vote. The resolution was adopted with the support of an overwhelming majority, with the United States as the sole Member State opposing adoption.

This outcome underscores both the breadth of global commitment to gender equality and the resilience of multilateral processes, even in the face of attempts to remove references to s*xual and reproductive health and rights, intersectionality, and other established human rights standards.

We are proud to see Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir Argentina, represented by Pate Palero at the XII EU–LAC Conference on Feminicide at the European Parliament in Brussels.

At a time of growing anti-gender backlash and democratic backsliding, cross-regional feminist collaboration is essential to confront gender-based violence and defend rights.

As Argentina approaches the 50th anniversary of the military coup, this participation also reminds us of the enduring role of feminist movements as spaces of resistance against authoritarianism.

Gracias CDD Argentina for bringing these voices to the conversation.

Justice starts on the frontlines. 🌱

In many communities, formal justice systems are inaccessible or underfunded. Grassroots paralegal programs and feminist legal aid clinics fill this gap, acting as the first and often only trusted actors demanding accountability.

For , the Women's Rights Caucus is calling for explicit funding commitments to support these essential frontline services. We cannot reframe justice without supporting the feminist movements that do the work every day.

Our Demand: Commit to flexible and sustainable funding for the grassroots organizations that make justice a reality.

Not far enough.

While some say feminism has gone too far, the past year shows how urgently rights still need defending.

In the past year, major rollbacks and new threats have targeted the autonomy and rights of women and gender-diverse people.

From renewed abortion restrictions and funding bans to legal repression and diplomatic pressure against gender equality, these shifts are narrowing rights, resources, and protections that movements have fought hard to build.

We have seen the reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule, the launch of the America First Global Health Strategy, the expansion of anti-rights diplomacy through the Geneva Consensus Declaration, and policy roadmaps like Project 2025 proposing restrictions on abortion and LGBTQ+ rights.

These developments are not isolated. They reflect coordinated political decisions reshaping global health, funding flows, and international norms.

That is why movements for women’s rights and gender justice must remain strong, organized, and vigilant.

Justice must not be one-size-fits-all. ⚖️

Adolescent girls face distinct barriers that are often overlooked in legal frameworks designed only for adults. From child marriage to educational exclusion, their lived realities demand a justice system that accounts for their specific developmental stage and legal capacity.

For , we are demanding that Member States explicitly recognize and protect the rights of adolescent girls. We cannot allow the most vulnerable to be left without recourse because the system failed to see them.

Our Demand: A justice framework that is responsive to the unique needs and agency of every adolescent girl.

LinkedIn/Facebook/Instagram - True justice begins with the survivor. 🕊️
Gender-based violence is not an individual failure; it is a systemic one rooted in power imbalances. To achieve real gender equality, our justice systems must be equipped to confront these structures head-on.

We are calling for victim and survivor-centered pathways that prioritize dignity, psychosocial support, and legal aid. Accountability is not just about punishment—it is about ensuring that referral mechanisms and justice processes actually work for those they are meant to protect.

Our Demand: We expect to see explicit commitments to fund and strengthen pathways that ensure accountability for all forms of violence, including technology-facilitated and reproductive violence.
