Last week, SDC was invited to attend "Rehearsal Break," a gathering of directors and choreographers in the Chicago area sponsored by the League of Chicago Theatres and hosted by the Goodman Theatre. The event included a panel of Chicago directors - Nick Bowling, Lili-Anne Brown, Grace Dozel-Ng and Jessica Fisch - moderated by SDC Central Regional Rep and Artistic Director of The Goodman, Susan V. Booth and coordinated by Michael Cotey. SDC Director of Contract Affairs Kristy Cummings and Contract Affairs Rep for the Central Region Nia Arrington-Seward had the opportunity to share information about SDC Membership and the various types of Union contracts applicable to Members working in the Chicago area.

Yesterday, SDC President Michael John Garcés and Western Regional Representative Jon Lawrence Rivera met with Keith McNutt, the Entertainment Community Fund’s Executive Director, Western Region. In addition to sharing information about SDC’s robust Membership in the Western Region with Keith, Michael John and Jon enjoyed a tour of the arts center that is under construction as part of the Hollywood Arts Collective affordable housing complex.

The Entertainment Community Fund is one of the industry's greatest resources, providing free and confidential services and programs to help entertainment workers navigate a wide range of professional and personal problems. SDC encourages our Members to make use of the Fund’s MAP program resources, which are available to SDC Members around the country!

This morning, SDC leadership was proud to be a part of a vibrant conversation between Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su and the Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) at City Hall. Topics discussed between COBUG and the Deputy Mayor and her staff included collective bargaining, Times Square safety, and legislative goals for the administration. SDC is grateful for this opportunity to speak with the Deputy Mayor about COBUG's shared issues and concerns and to hear from her about her work and the priorities of her office.
