TWO KITTENS. ONE BOND. 🦆🌸

Duck and Dottie were found in a bush in the southern suburbs of Athens at two weeks old by tourists who had no idea they were about to change two lives. They've been inseparable since before they could even run — and now that they can run, they do it constantly, chirupping the whole way, before collapsing into each other the moment it's naptime. They come as a pair. That is the only arrangement they are willing to consider, and five minutes watching them together will tell you exactly why.

Age: Approx. 4 months old
Personality: High energy, curious, and joyful. Both chirrup while playing, enjoy being petted, and show their bellies to say thank you. Friendly with everyone, fine with older children. Devoted to each other above all.

SHE NEVER GAVE UP. NEITHER SHOULD WE. 🧡

Cato was hit by a car, left on the streets, and dragged herself forward on injured legs with no one coming. Then someone did. Today she is warm, safe, and one of the most openly loving cats at our shelter — rubbing her face on anyone nearby, staying close, giving her whole heart without hesitation. Her back legs don't work well, so she needs daily help with peeing. She handles everything else entirely on her own. Her needs are real. So is everything she gives back.

Age: Approx. 5 years old
Personality: Confident, social, and deeply affectionate. Loves people above all else, adapts easily to new environments, and enjoys sunshine, balconies, and being close to her humans.
Health: Disabled hind legs due to a car accident — needs daily bladder assistance. Never misses her special litter box. No allergies, no other health issues. Eats anything.

🐾 HELLO, DENIZ! 🇩🇪❤️
We’re very happy to welcome Deniz from Germany to our rescue team! She’s joining us outside of Workaway and is currently a student with a huge heart for cats. 🐱

Deniz has loved and cared for cats since childhood. Originally from Turkey, she has personally rescued three stray cats who were in need of care, giving them the love and support they deserved.

Deniz discovered LBS through online research and decided to come and support our rescue work. We’re excited to have her with us and look forward to seeing all the love and care she’ll bring to our cats.

A NEW VOLUNTEER🐾❤️
We’re delighted to welcome our new Workaway volunteer, Claudia to the LBS animal rescue family! She is pictured with Frinoula the cat. 🐱
Claudia is a student with a real passion for animals. She has already gained valuable experience working in two veterinary practices and has cared for her own cats for many years. She’s hoping to apply to study veterinary medicine at university next year, so we’re thrilled to help her gain even more hands-on experience with our rescue animals.

LBS came recommended by a friend who previously volunteered with us, which makes her arrival even more special! 🥰

FOUND IN A CAR ENGINE 🌿

Nako's story started in one of the scariest places imaginable — inside a car engine. She was found in time, brought to safety, and has been quietly, warmly blossoming ever since. She loves people, seeks out affection on her own terms, and will let you know with a soft meow when she'd like some attention. She's not looking for excitement — just calm, comfort, and someone who enjoys sharing a peaceful space.

🌿 WELCOME, SOPHIE!🇮🇹🐾
We’re very happy to welcome Sophie from Italy to Let’s be S.M.A.R.T. as a new volunteer! ❤️

Sophie is a student and comes to us independently, outside of Workaway, after discovering our work with cats and rescued animals while researching animal welfare organizations in Greece.

Animals have been part of her life for as long as she can remember. Growing up on a farm, together with caring for her own dog and six cats including several adopted from shelters has given her plenty of hands-on experience with animals and their different personalities. 🐶🐱

Animal welfare is especially important to Sophie, and she is motivated to make a meaningful difference. She enjoys working outdoors, isn’t afraid of physically demanding tasks, and describes herself as reliable, adaptable, patient and a team player.

Here she is pictured with Jack the cat, who seems to have already approved of our newest volunteer. 😻

ONE EYE REMOVED. ONE EYE FOGGY. ZERO COMPLAINTS. 🧡

Meet Pippin — born June 2025, found in Kalyvia Thorikou looking very unwell, and brought to safety by a kind woman and the LBS rescue team. He's tested negative for everything, vaccinated, and going strong.
His left eye was removed. His right eye is a little foggy. He plays, explores, and moves through the world like none of this is relevant, because to him it isn't. He purrs like a tractor — loudly, constantly, and with complete commitment. He loves being held, petted, and is most alive in the mornings and evenings.
He bonds deeply with his people and would do best as an only cat, at least for now. Wet food, string toys, high places, and someone to trust — that's the whole list.

Age: Approx. 1 year old
Personality: Brave, affectionate, and deeply bonded with his people. Playful in the mornings and evenings, loves being held and petted. Best as the only cat for now.
Health: Left eye removed, right eye slightly foggy. Vaccinated, negative for all tests. No medications, no dietary restrictions. Eats wet food.

Blindness doesn’t slow this girl down! Faith loves cozy cat tree naps, feather toys, toy mice, and gentle pets once she knows she’s safe. She can be shy at first, so patience and a calm home are key. 🐱💗
