John Fitzpatrick recently visited one of the projects that the Eithne & Paddy Fitzpatrick Memorial Fund has been proud to support, the Wicklow Hospice Foundation.

Entering the final phases of construction, the Wicklow Hospice will be a 15-room hospice in-patient unit at Magheramore in Wicklow as well as a hub for in-home palliative care services throughout the county.

The hospice will enable people with life-limiting illnesses to be discharged from hospital settings to receive great care, comfort, and a measure of dignity at their preferred place of care – their home or in hospice.

The Fitzpatrick Fund is sponsoring a day room for patients and their families within the facility, where people with limited access to outdoor settings will be able to enjoy natural light and the warmth of the sun.

It’s great to see our hard work making a difference to so many young people.

A top international hotelier flew into Omagh recently to launch a children's centre at the town's integrated primary school which he helped fund with a $100,000 (£79,000) donation.

Since 2015, the Eithne and Paddy Fitzpatrick Memorial Fund has been proud to sponsor the good work done by the Barnardos Finglas Early Intervention Service Project.

Barnardos aims to enrich the lives of vulnerable children living in the most disadvantaged areas of Ireland by providing targeted services to support education and healthy social development for the children, as well as family support for their parents.

The Finglas section of Dublin struggles with many challenges, and only 67% of the children from there go beyond a primary school education, compared to a national average of over 90%. In addition, only 18% of the population there achieves a third level qualification, compared to the national average of 38%. Barnados is committed to creating opportunities for the people of Finglas through better education and other support services.

John Fitzpatrick, accompanied by his sister Eithne Scott-Lennon, recently visited Barnardos Finglas, who named a room within the service after the Eithne and Paddy Fitzpatrick Memorial Fund in recognition of their support over the past four years.

This year's special anniversary edition of this wonderful event was held on May 14, 2018. Weather was perfect, as a thick morning haze burned off by 11am to result in a bright sunny day with temperatures at 78F and a very light breeze
