Since retiring from the Israeli Air Force’s technical department, Natan Ophir has been volunteering at Yad Sarah’s Rishon LeZion equipment repair workshop. Using the skills he learned in the IDF, he repairs and adapts medical and rehabilitative equipment to meet clients’ individual needs. “That’s what we do—we think outside the box and truly do everything we can to help,” Natan said. “Our fingers are just itching to do the work we’ve always been good at.” Read Natan’s story here: https://friendsofyadsarah.org/newsroom/newsletters

A group of 22 technical students from Shvach Mofet High School volunteered at Yad Sarah’s Ra’anana Workshop, cleaning and repairing vital equipment for Equipment Lending Centers. Through their efforts, the students helped ensure that wheelchairs, walkers, and other essential items are accessible to individuals and families who depend on Yad Sarah’s services. Our volunteers were proud to give these students a deeper understanding of the power of giving back to the community.

At Yad Sarah’s Urgent Care Center in Jerusalem, one test made all the difference. A woman arrived with abdominal pain after an earlier examination found no cause for concern. A second ultrasound at Yad Sarah’s emergency center revealed a rare, life-threatening uterine rupture. She was rushed into emergency surgery to save her life. “It’s not just a ride,” said Tziona, who uses Yad Sarah’s Accessible Van service. “It’s the ability to keep living, traveling, and being with family.” Last year, Tziona was hospitalized and had to cancel her family vacation. This year, she was determined to make the trip happen. With support from Yad Sarah’s Accessible Van service, Tziona was able to travel to Eilat with her children and grandchildren. Yad Sarah’s vans offer the space and accommodations needed for individuals with mobility challenges and their loved ones to travel safely and comfortably.

Yad Sarah’s largest service initiative, the Equipment Lending Center, offers more than 150 types of medical and rehabilitation equipment for short- and long-term loans.
