School leaders are being asked to do more than ever — improve academic outcomes, steady their teams, and lead through constant change. When they get the support to meet that moment, everyone wins, especially students.

That's why, on June 9, we're convening the New York City Public Schools Leadership Conference. It’s a day for the people running school systems to learn from each other and move from vision to impact.

Dr. Miguel Cardona will keynote, and our CEO, Dr. Lisa Herring, will moderate a panel with Chancellor Kamar Samuels, Dr. Christina Grant, and Dr. Sonja Santelises.

Leadership changes everything. Strengthen the people who lead schools and school systems, and you change what's possible for the students inside them. That's the work we do every day.

The shift from aspiring principal to confident school leader is grounded in real school experience and support.

Through the National Aspiring Principals Fellowship®, aspiring principals engage in coaching and school-based learning experiences that strengthen how they lead. For Fellows like Eldridge Chism, III, this supports steady growth in instructional leadership, clarity, and confidence over time.

Research shows that acknowledging progress, even in small ways, can strengthen motivation, deepen connection, and reinforce the conditions for future success. Yet in the pace of school leadership, these moments are often the first to be overlooked.

As you head into summer, consider where you can pause, reflect, and recognize the progress you and your team have made. These moments don’t just honor the work, they help fuel what comes next.

For many school leaders, some of the most meaningful learning happens alongside peers who understand the realities, challenges, and opportunities of the work.

In this blog, we explore the power of cohort-based learning through the experience of New Leaders alum Dashe Rowland, who reflects on her community of peers and coaches, and how they continue to support her beyond the program.

Experiences like these inform the National Aspiring Principals Fellowship®, where educators engage in practice-based learning, coaching, and collaborative growth designed to prepare leaders for the principal role. Visit link in our comments to read the full blog.

Self-awareness is a critical part of effective school leadership, and it starts with understanding how your leadership is experienced by others.

In this blog, we explore how leaders can strengthen self-awareness through structured feedback, intentional listening, and regular reflection. We also unpack why blind spots exist in leadership, and how identifying them can help build stronger trust and more aligned school communities.
