“What does a teacher need to help a student thrive?”

Training. Support. Resources.
But also the space to learn from other teachers, try new approaches and keep growing.

This World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating the teachers who bring learning to life and investing in the people who make every classroom possible. ✏🏫

Last year, we came together to celebrate what’s possible when people believe in the promise of a better education. 💛

The stories, the students, the community and the people who make this work possible.

Here’s a little look back at the magic of last year’s Gala. And this year, we’d love for you to be part of it.

A child’s first experience with reading can shape how they see themselves as a learner. 📖✏

That’s why supporting teachers matters.

In Chiché, Guatemala, 103 first- and second-grade teachers came together through our Teacher Support workshops, in partnership with DIDEDUC Quiché, to explore new ways to make reading and writing more meaningful in the classroom.

They practiced new strategies, shared experiences and learned from one another, all with one goal in mind: helping children build strong foundations for learning from the very beginning. 🧑🏻‍🏫👩🏻‍🏫

When teachers have the tools and support they need, children have more opportunities to discover that they can read, they can write and they can learn.

Because every child deserves the chance to believe in what they’re capable of.

A workshop can last eight days. Its impact can last much longer. 💛

During the Lao Teacher Support Workshop, teachers spent eight days practicing, sharing ideas and learning new ways to support their students.

Now, they’re taking those lessons back to their classrooms.

For a child, that might mean a teacher finding a new way to explain something. More encouragement to participate. A classroom where asking questions feels easier.

And sometimes, those small moments are what help a child believe they can learn.

That’s why we support teachers: because when teachers grow, their students grow with them. 📚

Help more teachers bring new tools, confidence, and possibilities into their classrooms. Support education that reaches students through the teachers who guide them every day. https://pencilsofpromise.org/

🎒 A new school year begins in Laos!

On September 1, classrooms filled with familiar faces, new lessons and the excitement of starting something new.

For children, going back to school is more than returning to the classroom. It’s another year to learn, make friends, discover what they’re capable of and dream about what comes next. 💛

Here’s to a year filled with curiosity, confidence and possibility for every student in Laos.

A new year. A new chapter. So many possibilities. 📚✏️

A new classroom. A day full of joy. And a community coming together to celebrate. 💛

In Santa Elena, Joyabaj, Quiché, we came together to inaugurate a new classroom made possible through the support of .

What made the day special wasn’t just the new space, it was everything that happened around it: traditional dances, big smiles, hugs, laughter and a community celebrating what they helped make possible. 🏫🌿

Air Plant Shop joined us to experience this moment firsthand, surrounded by the students, teachers, and families at the heart of this project.

A classroom built together. A future made possible together. 📚 ✏

A new chapter begins in Joyabaj. 👷🏻‍♀️🏫

For students at this school, a new classroom means more than four walls. It means a place to learn, share ideas, dream about the future, and grow alongside their classmates.

We celebrated the inauguration of a new three-classroom block, along with renovated restrooms and new classroom furniture, helping create a more complete and welcoming learning environment for students.

This project was also a reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together.

, thank you for believing in Pencils of Promise and in what’s possible when we invest in students. We’re so grateful to have you helping make these spaces a reality. ✏️
