Discover, perform, and educate about music written during the Holocaust

On June 1st, we had a meaningful program at The Bronx High School of Science.

We presented music and stories of the composers affected by the Holocaust to their students. Holocaust Music Lost & Found artist Jeanne Golan played the pieces with emotion and skill, bringing to life the history they study.

This was followed by a private tour of the Stuart S. Elenko Holocaust Museum and Study Center on campus. The student-led presentations and museum exhibits reaffirmed the importance of holocaust remembrance held by new generations.

Josh Binderman, Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism, along with the members of the Mayor’s Office for Nonprofit Services joined us for the program. We thank them for being there.

We are very grateful to City Council Member Eric Dinowitz of District 11 for underwriting this important program.

Holocaust Music Lost and Found and the Yiddish Book Center want to thank everyone who was there to experience this meaningful evening. Dr Samuel Kassow's presentation of the "Warsaw Testament" along with the outstanding music program, was presented to a sold-out audience. The book "Warsaw Testament," a memoir by Rokhl Auerbach, was brought to life. Be sure to put this book on your must-reads!

Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto, California, partnered with Holocaust Music Lost & Found to present a wonderful weekend of celebrating Anne Sebba’s powerful book, 'The Women’s Orchestra of Auschwitz: A Story of Survival.'

On Friday night, March 13th, Anne Sebba and Bret Werb did a “Fireside Chat” about their illustrious careers. On Sunday, March 15th, there was an extraordinary program of Anne in conversation with Bret about the book, followed by a musical presentation of some of the music that was played in Auschwitz by the women. It was beautiful and emotional to hear the music that was played over 80 years ago.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on a cold winter night to hear a live reading from Anne Sebba of her book “The Women’s Orchestra of Auschwitz: A Story of Survival.” We were honored to have Anne in an outstanding conversation with Brett Werb and our wonderful musicians to bring the story of these resilient women to life.

The performers this evening were William Schimmel, Accordion; Eilot Bailen, Cello; Sarah Vonsattel, Violin; Emily Donato, Soprano; and Roy Feldhusen, Piano.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the victims of the Holocaust and honor the resilience of those who endured.

Through music, Holocaust Music Lost & Found preserves history, honors victims, and helps new generations understand the human stories behind the holocaust.

Giving Thanks

Holocaust Music Lost & Found is thankful for the amazing programs that we did in Charleston, SC with the Polish Chamber Musicians’ Association on November 19th and 20th. The West Ashley High School music students and the holocaust literature class joined us for an education concert. Congregation KKBE hosted us for their life long learning evening program. The music and conversation were outstanding.

Holocaust Music Lost & Found was honored to partner with Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music in presenting the Grammy-nominated ARC Ensemble. We spent 3 days celebrating the composers Frederick Block, Jerzey Fitelberg, and Arthur Willner with events at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Bruno Walter Auditorium, with the students from the Frank Sinatra School for the Arts High School, and an outstanding concert at Merkin Hall under the direction of Simon Wynberg, Artistic Director.
