Time for another Spotlight 🫶🌈✨
For Zoé, Camp Able is a chosen family built on summers of shared music, adventures, and the purest form of love 💛
Zoé has been part of Camp Able for five years and says that ever since trying camp after graduating high school, it became a non negotiable part of her summer. Outside of camp, she teaches preschool on Marco Island, runs a pop up coffee business with her best friend Nathan, and loves creating things that help people feel seen.
One moment that especially stayed with Zoé was her first Camp Able talent show.
Her camper Beau had talked about it from the very first day of camp. He had planned the concept, picked the outfit, chosen the song, and waited all year for that moment.
When she finally watched him perform, she said everything clicked.
💬 “Once I saw him up there, completely in his element, it made perfect sense why he had made such emphasis on that moment.”
She shared that seeing the confidence, excitement, and joy in that room helped her understand why campers and staff continue coming back year after year.
Camp also changed the way Zoé connects with people.
She shared:
💬 “It expanded the forms of communication I pay attention to.”
Through her years at camp, she learned to notice facial expressions, eye contact, body language, repetition, and all the ways people communicate without words.
And when reflecting on inclusion, Zoé said something that really stuck with us:
💬 “Inclusion means opening your heart to everyone and anyone who you encounter. It’s making space even when no one asks you to.”
Zoé, thank you for bringing your creativity, your energy, and your heart to Camp Able year after year. Thank you for reminding us that so much can be said without words and that everyone deserves a spotlight 💛
