Thank you all for patiently waiting for this update:

We are thrilled to share the winners of the 2nd annual Photobook Prize, selected by William Boling of Falline Press! William was impressed by the variety of strong submissions and powerful narratives, and selecting the winners was not an easy task. Thank you to all who submitted!

Congratulations to all the incredible artists and their publishers! We’re especially inspired by the impressive number of self-published winners this year. It’s a powerful reminder that artists can take full creative control and bring their visions to life on their own terms. Keep making those books!

Featured auction item : BOOK - SUMMER DAYS STATEN ISLAND - Christine Osinski
Item #1455622

Taken in the "forgotten borough" of Staten Island between 1983 and 1984, the photographs in Christine Osinski’s (born 1948) Summer Days Staten Island create a portrait of working-class culture in an often overlooked section of New York City. Captured on Osinski’s large format 4x5 camera as she wandered the island, her candid portraits of strangers, vernacular architecture and quotidian scenes reveal an invisible landscape within reach of the thriving metropolis of Manhattan. The neighborhoods that Osinski captured are devoid of the skyscrapers, swarms of pedestrians and choking masses of traffic that are a short ferry ride away. Instead, she captures kids riding bikes on open, empty streets, suburban homes with neatly tended yards and the small-town feel of New York’s least populous borough. Accompanying the series of images is an essay by Paul Moakley, Time magazine’s Deputy Director of Photography and Visual Enterprise.

The bonds of family are often brought to life through the lens of our cameras. The quiet beauty of a mother cradling her newborn, a dad basking in pride watching his toddler take their first step—or a grandparent taking the hand of the next generation.
Sometimes the strongest images we make are the ones that are the most personal to us of our family, whether it be biological or chosen, that we have captured through our lens. This exhibit is to honor those—

Featured Exhibition: PICTURES AT THE INTERSECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHY & COLLAGE

Featured Artists: 28 artists from Belgium, Canada, Germany, and across the USA

Location: Kolaj Institute Gallery, 2374 Saint Claude Avenue, Suite 230

Throughout 2024 and 2025, Kolaj Institute hosted virtual residencies during which artists made work at the intersection of photography and collage. Each June, New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery hosted exhibitions as part of Kolaj Fest New Orleans and, in December 2024, Kolaj Institute presented “Camera & Collage” at its gallery in New Orleans. These activities along with that of a number of solo artists in residence and articles in the magazine have given us many points of reference to view and think about the intersection
