Louisiana Academy of Audiology (LAA)

🎉👂 Happy National Audiologist Day! 👂🎉

Today, the Louisiana Academy of Audiology celebrates the amazing audiologists who make a difference in the lives of others every single day! 💜

Audiologists wear many hats — healthcare professionals, counselors, mentors, educators, friends, detectives, clinicians, coaches, administrators, supervisors, business professionals, and coordinators.

Behind every hearing test, every hearing aid fitting, and every patient interaction is an audiologist dedicated to improving communication, connection, and quality of life. 🦻💜

Today, we celebrate YOU — your expertise, your compassion, your dedication, and the countless ways you make a difference in the lives of your patients and communities.

Thank you for all you do for the profession and for the people who count on you. We’re proud to support and represent Louisiana’s audiologists!

💜 Happy National Audiologist Day from the Louisiana Academy of Audiology!

The call for LAA membership renewal went out recently. Hopefully you will catch it in your social media and will consider joining sooner rather than later as your membership is important to our Academy and the profession. Our profession is important. Your role in our profession is important. Our profession is small in numbers, and we must work a little harder to be noticed, to be heard by those who ultimately control how we practice and what our financial worth is. It is humbling and disheartening to feel underappreciated, to feel unheard and that is where your Louisiana Academy comes into play. We are the only organization in the state that is a voice for you and you alone, it represents no one else. If you don’t feel that a professional voice is important, there is no need to read any further. If you feel that it is important, please read a little more.

No other organization in the state represents only Audiologists. We are composed of and are only a voice for Audiology. The more members we have the stronger our voice is and the farther it carries. Your voice is needed because the voices that don’t value our skill and our profession are bigger and louder. The payment sources that our patients rely on work non-stop to diminish our value, reduce our reimbursement, weaken our role in hearing healthcare, and seek a lesser qualified replacement for you. If hearing instrument dispensing is a part of your clinical practice, you should be aware that although you are the most important link in the chain for better hearing, you are the most expensive and third-party administrators and insurance companies will never stop trying to advance delivery models that do not include you. If you don’t believe Audiologists are an important component of hearing instrument success there is no need to read any further. However, if you believe Audiologists are the most appropriate entry point into hearing healthcare and the most valuable part of a successful hearing instrument user experience, please read one more paragraph.

The investment you have made in your education and professional development as an Audiologist is significant and it is valuable to those that we serve. We improve quality of life, we connect people to the world around them, we connect people. No one on the planet has more knowledge and skill for treating permanent hearing loss than you, no one. Only LAA represents you and you alone at the state level and advocates for you, your professional skill, your patients. Please join us, encourage a colleague to join us, be part of our voice.
