This gathering brings together nonprofit and fundraising leaders from across the country to exchange ideas, strengthen leadership skills, and explore innovative approaches to philanthropy and organizational sustainability.

At Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans, we believe that strong leadership and meaningful partnerships are essential to creating lasting change.

💙 A Day of Compassion, Connection & Community!

On October 2, Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans hosted our 2026 World Homeless Day event at the Rosenwald Recreation Center.

It was a meaningful day of bringing together individuals, community organizations, and service providers to offer resources, personal care services, support, and, most importantly, compassion to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to ALL of our sponsors, community partners, service providers, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this event possible. Your generosity and willingness to serve demonstrate the incredible things we can accomplish when we come together.

A very special thank you to our amazing Travelers Aid staff for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to making this day a success!

While World Homeless Day is recognized once a year, our work and commitment to ending homelessness continue every day.

We’re grateful to FOX 8 for helping us spread the word about Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans’ upcoming World Homeless Day event and for featuring our Chief Program Officer, Mayte Hernandez, as she shared more about this important day and the work of Travelers Aid.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Cristy Arceneaux, who was recognized by UNITY of Greater New Orleans as a Housing Hero of the Month! 🏡💙

Cristy has devoted nearly 20 years to Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans. Throughout her remarkable career, she has remained deeply committed to helping our community’s most vulnerable individuals navigate the path to stable housing.

Her dedication, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond have changed countless lives. Even while managing a demanding caseload, Cristy never compromises the quality of her work or the care she gives to each client.

Congratulations, Cristy! We are grateful for your many years of faithful service and proud to have you as part of the Travelers Aid family. This honor is truly well deserved!

Cristy Arceneaux is a Coordinated Entry Housing Navigator /Case Manager with Travelers Aid Society. She is one of the most dedicated, collaborative and selfless navigators working in homeless services. Cristy sacrifices countless hours of her personal time to ensure extremely vulnerable individuals are prioritized for housing. Cristy remains very active and engaged throughout every stage of the navigation process because she knows that this is essential for clients to become successful in obtaining and being connected to housing. Even though Cristy navigates a high volume of active cases, the quality of Cristy’s work is never compromised.

Charlotte Hatcher consistently demonstrates compassion, warmth, and a genuine commitment to her clients. Her ability to quickly problem-solve, build trusting relationships, and deeply engage with clients allows her to effectively support them in overcoming barriers and achieving their goals. She goes above and beyond to ensure her clients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their journey. Charlotte is also an exceptional collaborator who truly listens to participants and advocates assertively for their needs while respecting their voice and choices. She approaches her work with cultural responsiveness and genuine care, creating space for participants and their families to feel heard and respected—even during difficult conversations or when complex decisions need to be made. Her ability to collaborate across teams while keeping the participant at the center of the process makes her an invaluable partner.

🧥🥫 WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR WORLD HOMELESS DAY! 🥫🧥

Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans is preparing to welcome approximately 300 of our unhoused neighbors for World Homeless Day, and we need the community’s help to make sure everyone who attends feels supported, cared for and seen.

Our greatest needs right now are:
👕 New or gently used clothing
👖 Pants, shirts and other everyday clothing
🧦 Socks and undergarments
🥫 Nonperishable food items
🧴 Hygiene and personal care items

Every donation matters. A bag of clothing, a box of canned goods or a collection organized by your church, business, school or neighborhood can make a meaningful difference.

💙 WE NEED YOUR HELP! World Homeless Day 2026 💙

On Friday, October 2, Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans will bring our community together for World Homeless Day — “Where Hope Has an Address.”

This day is about more than providing services. It is about creating a welcoming space where people experiencing homelessness can be treated with dignity, care, compassion, and respect.

We are currently seeking community partners to help us make the day possible through:

❤️ Event Sponsorships
👕 New or gently used clothing donations
🎁 In-kind donations of food, personal care items, supplies, giveaways, and other needed items
🙋🏽‍♀️ Volunteers to help serve and support our guests
🤝 Businesses and organizations interested in partnering with us

Guests will have access to hot meals, free clothing, health screenings, hair styling, a food pantry, massages, manicures, vendors, and more.

We would like to honor Gloria Omigie as an outstanding navigator of vulnerable persons.

Gloria Omigie, has been a part of the Coordinated Entry Team at Traveler’s Aid since November 2025, but she has been an experienced homeless services provider with Traveler’s Aid Society for many years before deciding to rejoin their team. Ms. Gloria has exemplified so much compassion and advocacy while working with extremely vulnerable individuals and families and rarely seems frazzled when faced with very challenging situations. Most recently, Ms. Gloria has joined the Family Coordinated Entry Team where she has been tasked with problem solving and diversion when possible. Ms. Gloria goes to the Sr. Clarita Center twice a week to answer the Family Crisis Line. Her experience has been a true blessing to the clients that she interacts with so warmly. Ms. Gloria is a pillar of hope and inspiration and a true gem to her clients and our homeless services community.

Sometimes it’s not about the number of people that you serve, but the quality of service that you give to the people. Fortunately, Teala Fugitt, whom is a Case Management Supervisor for Traveler’s Aid Frontlines Outreach Program has demonstrated both of these qualities in an extraordinary manner. Teala is boots on the ground every single day and has acted as a liaison for so many people who would have slipped through the cracks had it not been for her dedication, persistence and compassion. On so many occasions, Teala has voluntarily accepted the responsibility of navigating the most challenging and disabled persons in our community just because she simply knew that there was no one else to do it. In one recent instance, had Teala not intervened then I am relatively sure that it would have resulted in the client's death, because of how compromised his health was. Teala's advocacy and level of compassion is inspiring.
