Today, on Juneteenth, we recognize the resilience, achievements, and lasting impact of Black Americans who have shaped our nation’s history and continue to strengthen our communities.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the United States learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. As we reflect on this important moment in history, we also reaffirm our commitment to advancing equity, opportunity, health, and justice for all.
