In this special video message, Ducks Unlimited CEO and Founders Ball Honoree Adam Putnam reflects on Louisiana’s rich waterfowl heritage, the importance of healthy wetlands, and the partnerships that make meaningful conservation possible.
As presenting sponsor of Founders Ball: Sportsman’s Paradise, Ducks Unlimited brings nearly nine decades of conservation leadership to an exhibition celebrating Louisiana’s sporting traditions, natural heritage, and commitment to conservation.
We are honored to recognize Ducks Unlimited and Adam Putnam alongside the Gustaf W. McIlhenny Foundation at Founders Ball, just one week away on Thursday, November 5, at The Cabildo, marking the opening of the Sportsman’s Paradise exhibition.

🦆What makes Louisiana the Sportsman’s Paradise? 🦆

It starts with the land and water: winding bayous, cypress swamps, fertile marshes, coastal estuaries, and bottomland hardwood forests.

Together, these habitats have sustained wildlife, communities, and traditions for generations.

At the southern end of the Mississippi Flyway, Louisiana’s wetlands are a vital wintering ground for migratory waterfowl. They are the foundation of our sporting heritage, connecting generations of hunters, anglers, and families to the land and water.

Join us November 5 for Founders Ball: Sportsman’s Paradise, presented by Ducks Unlimited, celebrating this legacy and the work of preserving it for future generations.

The Sportsman’s Paradise exhibition opens to the public on Friday, November 6 and will be on view thru September 2028

Founders Ball brings together an exceptional lineup of Louisiana musicians at The Cabildo on Thursday, November 5.

A native of Cypress Island, Jourdan Thibodeaux draws on the French language, music, and rural traditions of South Louisiana. A fiddler and songwriter whose work reflects generations of Cajun culture, Thibodeaux’s deep connection to the land and traditions of his home is particularly fitting for this year’s exhibition.

Renowned New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich brings decades of jazz history to the evening with the Johnny Vidacovich Trio. A longtime member of Astral Project, Vidacovich has performed and recorded with legends including Professor Longhair, James Booker, and Dr. John.

Rounding out the lineup, The Desert Nudes bring their signature three-part harmonies, classic country, cowboy songs, and roots rock. Featuring J.P. Carmody, Dave Pomerleau, and Andre Bohren, the trio blends traditional American music with a distinctive New Orleans sensibility.

Join us for the annual Founders Ball, presented by Ducks Unlimited, benefiting the Louisiana State Museums and marking the opening of Sportsman’s Paradise.
