In Stronger Communities, four K20 Grant recipients are strengthening the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish alongside the neighbors leading that work.

Sankofa Nola advances health and well-being through fresh food access, community gardens, and environmental initiatives. Strongward, formerly SBP, supports families with disaster recovery and preparedness programs that bring stability and hope. Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana has worked to restore and protect Louisiana's coast since 1988. New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity builds safe, affordable homes through its First-Time Homebuyer and Home Repair programs.

In Creative Voices, three K20 Grant recipients are keeping the arts within reach of young people in the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish.

Dancing Grounds is a creative hub empowering youth through affordable dance programs and movement. The Ellis Marsalis Center For Music has provided music education and resources supporting youth development and local musicians since 2012. Girls Play Trumpets Too pairs music with mentorship for young girls, while restoring spaces for creative expression in the Musicians' Village.

St. Mary's Academy, New Orleans educates the whole person, teaching Christian values alongside critical thinking and service. G. W. Carver High School stands as a beacon of academic achievement and a pillar of the Upper Ninth Ward. Youth Run NOLA promotes wellness and community connection through inclusive programs that inspire young people and families to run, grow, and thrive.

WVUE's NOLA Now spotlighted three of the organizations carrying BCM's K20: Fortified Not Forgotten campaign forward — Carol Markowitz of Strongward (formerly SBP), Rashida Ferdinand of Sankofa Nola, and James Karst of Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana.

Each is one of ten K20 grant recipients supporting recovery in the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish, twenty years after Hurricane Katrina.

On WWL's Great Day Louisiana, Christy Ross, BCM's SVP & COO, and Lisa Dabney, Executive Director of the Ellis Marsalis Center For Music, joined Malik Mingo to talk about BCM's K20: Fortified Not Forgotten campaign. The Center is one of ten organizations selected as a K20 grant recipient serving the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish, marking 20 years since Hurricane Katrina.

Dabney called the Center an oasis in the middle of the 9th Ward, serving musicians and the wider Musicians Village community.

St. Mary's Academy, New Orleans has been educating and empowering young women in New Orleans since 1867. Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Family when Black children were denied access to education, the school became an act of faith and resistance that has endured for nearly 160 years. When Hurricane Katrina flooded the campus, the Sisters rebuilt. And they've continued building ever since.

Today, St. Mary's maintains a 100% graduation and college acceptance rate, a testament to leadership with conviction and purpose.
