Frances Hawkins, RN, is retiring after nearly 20 years leading Congregational Wellness at BCM. Her leadership shaped programs and partnerships that continue to serve our community.

Sharon Burel, RN, will step into the interim lead role with more than a decade at BCM and the institutional knowledge to carry this work forward with continuity and care. Please join us in celebrating Frances and in welcoming Sharon — our commitment to this work and to our community remains unchanged.

This month, we're sharing an important update from our Congregational Wellness team. After years of dedicated leadership, Frances Hawkins, RN, is retiring. Sharon Burel, RN, steps in as Interim Lead of Congregational Wellness — bringing over a decade of experience at BCM.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It's a reminder that the freedoms we carry into our communities — to serve, to heal, to show up for one another — were paid for by those who gave everything.

This month, we gathered to celebrate Frances' retirement — nearly 20 years in the making.
The room said everything. Colleagues who worked alongside her, family who watched her pour herself into this mission, all together to honor the leader behind BCM's Congregational Wellness programs.
Frances, we are so glad we got to celebrate you in person. Wishing you every joy in what comes next!

Today, we honor and celebrate Frances L. Hawkins as she retires after nearly 20 years of service to BCM and the Greater New Orleans community.

Frances joined us as a registered nurse with 30 years of clinical experience and built BCM's Congregational Wellness programs into what they are today — training and equipping Church Nurses and Health Promoters across five parishes to care for the people in their congregations.

She once said the best advice she ever received was this: "People may not remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel." That has always been Frances. Every program she built, every nurse she trained, every congregation she served — she made them feel seen, supported, and strengthened.

Frances, we are grateful for your heart, your leadership, and your nearly two decades of faithful service. BCM is a better organization because of you.

Today is the National Day of Prayer.
This year's theme calls us to "Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations" — a reminder that faithfulness to God is lived out across communities and generations.

For over 29 years, BCM has served Greater New Orleans in response to the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ — committed to the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the people and communities we call neighbors. We invite you to join us in prayer today, as we pause and pray alongside the nation.

🎉Thank you to our generous donors and sponsors for your support on our 13th annual .

GiveNOLA Day is hosted by Baptist Community Ministries , powered by Entergy New Orleans , with major support from Delta Utilities and Ochsner Health , and sponsorships from three dozen other generous philanthropists.

This generated a record-breaking over $8.2 million in donations with an incredible 1,005 participating nonprofits. The total number of online contributions was nearly 50,000 donations at the close of the 24-hour period.
