Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is one of our longest-lasting and most important community partnerships. For the agency's service day this year, MDHA's team lived out their mission of creating opportunities for quality, affordable housing and strengthening our Nashville community by loving their unhoused neighbors at Room In The Inn!

In just one day, they helped us pack 800 snack bags!

Each bag provides an opportunity to meet unhoused Nashville neighbors not just with food, but also with information that is key to connecting them with opportunities that point toward housing. Through partnerships with Metro Nashville Police Department and the Office of Homeless Services' Extreme Weather Response, these resources reach the most vulnerable of our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Thank you to our friends at MDHA for joining us! If you are another community organization looking to get involved, please reach out - we would love to have you at Room In The Inn: [email protected]

✨Room In The Inn's Got Talent!🎤🎵🎶

Music City is filled with musicians of all kinds, and Room In The Inn is no exception! Our community has songwriters, singers, piano players, guitarists, drummers, and so much more. To be known is to be loved - and for our neighbors, being known for our talents rather than our circumstances is a rare joy.

Help make more opportunities like this possible - donate your time or resources by visiting our website at roomintheinn.org/donate or emailing our team at [email protected]. Thank you for loving your neighbors!

Faith and Service with the Father Ryan Freshmen💜

Last week, the nearly 200 9th graders at Father Ryan High School spent a day alongside our staff engaged in learning and service. We spent time studying The Kingdom of the Poor (by FRHS alum Charles Strobel), engaged in an activity to learn about the impact of injustice and poverty, and packed thousands of snack bags to share with our neighbors experiencing homelessness this winter. Thanks to the Father Ryan community for putting your faith into action!

We believe that education is the key to bringing people, housed and unhoused, into a community where we can make a difference together. If your student or school would like to get involved, reach out to our team: [email protected].

Sharing Room In The Inn is a blessing💙

"Room In The Inn is about changing people, guests and hosts alike. It creates the environment with the opportunity for the guests to learn that there are people who care... and for the hosts to come to understand that the faceless figure on the street corner is more than a statistic... and that there are solutions."

These words from Charles Strobel remind us why we come together. No matter how you come to Room In The Inn, housed or unhoused, to receive hospitality or to welcome the stranger on a winter night, all of us are changed by the experience.

We invite and you into this community. No matter what gifts or needs you bring, you are welcome here. Learn more and come join us by visiting our website at roomintheinn.org/winter-shelter

✨Dancing With Your Neighbors!✨

Our 80s dance party was ~totally tubular~, and our 90s dance party was Da Bomb‼️ Community brings joy, and sometimes a little cringe-worthy throwback brings people together in ways we wouldn't expect!

Have some fun ideas for building community? We would love to hear them! Reach out to our team at [email protected].

Smashville 💙s Our Neighbors!

Thank you to everyone who supported Room In The Inn by joining us at the home opener last week. We were delighted to see so many members of the INN Crowd cheering on our hometown team!

Together, we raised $385 that will directly support Room In The Inn's critical services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Thank you to Smashville Games for Good for making this possible!

✨Fourth-Generation Volunteers✨

When our Community Engagement Director, Amanda Jones Fernandez, was celebrated as Nashville Soccer Club's Hero of the Match, of course she had to bring her girls! She accepted this honor on behalf of all the heroes who serve our neighbors at Room In The Inn, including her family!

A family tradition of service can start small! Cold nights are coming soon, and there are many ways for volunteers of all ages to love their neighbors who call the streets of Nashville home. Reach out to us for ideas and ways to get involved at [email protected]

Capping off Education Kickoff Month with a Festival🎊🍿🎸

Throughout September, we created new opportunities for neighbors to get involved in our many programs of education & human development - from recovery and mental health support, to veterans' services, creative expression, and more. And we ended with a festival celebrating the many people who took leaps of faith and joined in community, complete with live music, dancing, and good food!✨

If you, too, would like to accept the invitation to get involved, reach out! We would love to hear from you at [email protected]
