Learning Environments Action Research Network (LEARN) is a non-profit organization focused on enhancing learning environments with actionable strategies and solutions from analysis and development of research, utilizing a network of education partners. A nonprofit aimed to enhance Learning Environments with Actionable strategies and solutions through a cross-industry network of experts and an advisory board of superintendents who will support districts across the country by providing easily digestible research, access to expertise, professional development support to create strategies for implementation, and ongoing cohort support to bring districts and partners together around their respective work.

What if AI could give educators more time to focus on teaching? Research highlighted in Stanford’s AI for Educators one-pager points to ways AI can support instructional practice, from reducing lesson preparation time to providing real-time feedback. One study found that an AI chat tool reduced lesson preparation time by about 25 minutes per week while maintaining quality.

The takeaway isn’t simply to use more AI. It’s to identify tools that help educators work more effectively while supporting the quality of instruction.

We’re excited to be engaged with Stanford’s AI Hub for Education to disseminate the latest research on AI in education. We appreciate the practical focus of these one-pagers and are glad to share research that can inform decisions in schools and districts.

The best conversations in education happen when we make room for new voices and new ways of thinking. We’re so excited to welcome Kevin Stinehart as a Contributing Writer for LEARN during the 2026–2027 school year!

Kevin is a teacher, writer, and doctoral candidate at Clemson University, where his research focuses on systems-level change in education. His writing on The Architecture of Childhood explores the forces that shape how we think about childhood, learning, and education, offering a thoughtful perspective on questions that matter to educators and leaders.

At LEARN, we believe meaningful change starts with better questions, diverse perspectives, and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking. We’re looking forward to bringing Kevin’s ideas and perspective to our growing network of education leaders and innovators.

We are so excited to announce that Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools (WJCC) has been selected as the recipient of the SERVPRO Safe Schools Research Award.

Their Insights-to-Action project will bring together three key areas of school safety:
- School building assessment
- Emergency planning
- Disaster prevention education

Together, LEARN and WJCC will will work with researchers at National University to continue to strengthen preparedness, ensure resilient systems, and turn research into practical insights that can help schools build more resilient systems. Our latest LEARN research brief explores the challenges— from data privacy and funding to policy gaps and disconnected systems.

One key takeaway? Districts shouldn’t have to navigate the AI landscape alone. Shared resources, trusted vetting, and peer collaboration can help districts make more informed decisions.

BIG NEWS! We’re excited to share that LEARN has entered into an agreement with National University to launch a series of “Insight-to-Action” studies designed to connect doctoral-level research expertise with real-world challenges facing K–12 school districts.

Through this partnership, LEARN will have access to a network of 2,000+ doctoral-level researchers nationwide who are interested in helping districts develop evidence-based solutions to complex challenges.

The goal is simple: Turn insights into action.

Here’s how it works: District leaders identify a problem of practice. LEARN helps connect them with a researcher whose expertise fits the need. Together, they develop and carry out applied research designed to support the district’s decision-making. And research support is provided to participating districts at no cost.

We’ll be announcing the details of our first projects at the 2027 LEARN Symposium. And there’s an opportunity for organizations to help make these projects possible. Stay tuned!
