📢 Attention Delaware Dietitians

Highmark is implementing important changes to its Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) benefits beginning in August 2026.

Key updates include:
• A new 5-hour annual MNT benefit cap
• Updated prior authorization requirements for medically necessary services beyond the cap
• Additional guidance on the review process

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is actively advocating for both RDNs and patients and continues to work with Highmark to support evidence-based access to MNT services.

We encourage you to visit the Academy News Center to review the full update, including details on the new policy, the prior authorization process, and how to report concerns if medically necessary care is denied. 🔗 https://www.eatrightpro.org/news-center/public-policy-news/important-changes-to-highmarks-mnt-policy

🚨Modernizing Delaware Nutrition Licensure: Your Presence Matters🚨

Delaware’s dietetics and nutrition licensure law is being updated, and we need the voices of registered dietitians and supporters to help demonstrate strong professional support.

House Bill 449 aims to:
✔️ Clearly define Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) as a licensed activity
✔️ Establish separate pathways for qualified dietitians and nutritionists
✔️ Align education, training, and scope of practice requirements
✔️ Preserve access to general nutrition education, wellness services, and health coaching

📍 Committee Hearing
🗓 June 11
⏰ 10:00 a.m.
📍 Dover, Delaware

Whether you plan to testify or simply attend in support, your presence can help show lawmakers that Delaware practitioners support modern, balanced licensure standards that protect consumers while preserving access to nutrition and wellness services.

Interested in attending? Send us a DM and we’ll connect you with our Public Policy Coordinator.

🍴 Food and health can be deeply personal, and nutrition care should never feel judgmental.

🔍 Research shows that some people avoid nutrition guidance because they fear being judged, with a portion
reporting they avoid nutrition and dietetics professionals altogether. That gap in trust matters.

👩‍⚕️ In our work as nutrition and dietetics professionals, supporting patients goes beyond managing chronic
conditions or addressing nutrition concerns. It means listening, understanding context, and providing
guidance that respects where each person is.

If a nutrition post shows up in your feed, it probably looks accurate — but does it account for your medical
history, lifestyle, or goals? Is it backed by science?

As a nutrition and dietetics professional, this is what I do every day: translate nutrition science into guidance
that actually fits real people and real lives. Evidence-based nutrition matters, especially when there’s so
much misinformation online.

That’s why has launched a new initiative, A Seat at Every Table,
to elevate the role of nutrition and dietetics professionals in shaping nutrition decisions.
