It is a 2024 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards Winner and part of the Morrison-Golden Fossil Areas National Natural Landmark. A world-class dinosaur tracksite with more than 250 dinosaur footprints to explore. The tracks were made during the Cretaceous Period (100 million years ago) and are right where the dinosaurs left them, though the environment has changed dramatically since that time. Als

o see a few dozen dinosaur bones dating to the Jurassic Period (150 million years ago) from Stegosaurus (Colorado's State Fossil), Apatosaurus (formerly known as Brontosaurus), and the meat-eating dinosaur Allosaurus. Come explore our fossils with your friends and family! Paleontologists have ranked this the #1 dinosaur tracksite in America. PLEASE NOTE: Main Visitor Center and Discovery Center parking lots close and are locked at 5 p.m. Dinosaur Ridge Trail itself is open sunrise to sunset and has limited parking at each entry where you are welcome to park before and after our operating hours.

The first-ever Stego Stampede is a family-friendly fun run and Paleo ArtFest featuring a 2.2-mile scramble across the Ridge, dinosaur-inspired art, food trucks, and prehistoric fun.

We’re celebrating Colorado’s 150th and Dinosaur Ridge’s 150-year fossil milestone, with a special nod to the stegosaurus, Colorado’s state dinosaur and the first major dinosaur fossil discovered in the state.

Long before road trips, traffic jams, and concerts at Red Rocks, this area had a very different kind of traffic. 🦖🐾

The tracks at Dinosaur Ridge are part of a much larger fossil trackway that stretches from Boulder to northern New Mexico, giving visitors a rare chance to see where prehistoric creatures actually moved through ancient Colorado.

Come see the tracks up close and walk part of Colorado’s prehistoric “roadway” for yourself!

As Colorado celebrates 150 years of statehood in 2026, Dinosaur Ridge is also celebrating 150 years since major dinosaur fossils were first uncovered near Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre! 🦕

Back in 1876, these discoveries helped put Colorado on the paleontology map. Today, visitors can still walk beside real dinosaur tracks and fossils, making Dinosaur Ridge the perfect place to celebrate Colorado’s prehistoric past! 🌎✨
