Please join us for the PBS and WV ACES Coalition Adverse Childhood Experiences live webinar. This training is held over the course of three days:

ACEs 101: September 8th 10AM - 11:30AM
ACEs 102: September 15th 10AM - 11:30AM
ACEs 103: September 22th 10AM - 11:30AM

All three sessions must be attended consecutively. Aimed to provide an overview of ACES, prevention, and resiliency, this training is geared for professionals to enhance their skills.

After attending the three sessions, you will be able to::

-Understand what ACES is and the impact it has on children and adults, including how COVID-19 may impact ACEs
-Become familiar with the 10 types of ACES and the basic brain science behind it
-Introduce ways to overcome ACES
-Introduce steps individuals, families, schools, and providers can do to prevent ACES
-Learn ways to teach resiliency
-Understand variables related to resilience; protective factors; and safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments
-Provides brief overview of impact of trauma
-Learn to identify some of the root causes of ACES
-Identify best practices for preventing ACES
-Identify what you and your organization can do to prevent ACES

Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) Webinar Series for Parents & Caregivers!

The Triple P Seminar Series is a free virtual webinar series for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities up to age 12.

Each three-part series covers:

๐Ÿ’™ Helping Your Child Reach Their Potential
๐Ÿ’™ Changing Problem Behavior into Positive Behavior

Led by specialists from the WVU CED Family to Family program. Each session also includes a live Q&A with a Positive Behavior Support specialist to answer questions and share practical tips. Participants will also receive parenting tip packets to use at home.

Positive Behavior Support Specialist (โ—Onsite in Charleston, WVโ—)

The purpose of this position is to 1) provide individual in-home behavioral therapy services to individuals and families with serious challenging behaviors to reduce the risk of out of home placement, 2) educate and build comprehensive educational platforms for community health providers in trauma informed positive behavior therapy to decrease challenging behaviors and improve quality of life and build capacity throughout West Virginia regarding positive behavior therapy techniques, and 3) Coordinate case management to the highest risk youth for out of home placement in WV.

Join us for Writing Positive Behavior Support Plans training on August 5th 2026 at 10am-3:30pm in Charleston. This free in person, hands on training will prepare participants with an underlying understanding of PBS to create individualized Positive Behavior Support Plans for the people they serve.

Participants will create a plan during the training and go through steps to create interventions. Components of the PBSP include changing the environment to create proactive, quality of life, and reactive interventions. We will discuss how to develop, teach and reinforce functionally equivalent replacement behaviors.

This training is for providers with an in-depth knowledge of PBS philosophies, are able to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and work with individuals with complex needs.

The next Mountain State Conference on Disabilities (MSCD) takes place April 15-17, 2027 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV.

MSCD organizers are seeking input on conference topics to be presented. People with disabilities, families, caregivers, professionals, students, and trainees are all invited to take a brief survey (should take less than 2 minutes!) to help provide info on what topics to cover at next year's MSCD. This is a great opportunity to make an impact so the conference represents what is important to you!

Please join the us for our Increasing Social Awareness training on July 30th, 2026 at 10:00-11:30am on zoom! This training provides an overview of social learning theories and insight on the five areas of social awareness. Participants will learn how to identify social deficits and ways to help improve them. This training is intended for behavior support providers, therapists, counselors, educators and social workers, but we encourage parents, caregivers, foster parents and kinship caregivers to join us as well!
