🚒🔥 FIRE PREVENTION IN ACTION! 🔥🚒

Over the past two days, members of the Brookhaven Fire Department had the pleasure of visiting Brookhaven Elementary Thursday and on Friday hosting the kindergarten students at our station to teach students about the importance of fire prevention and fire safety!

Our firefighters spent time educating the students on fire safety, helping them understand how to recognize potential dangers, what to do in an emergency, and why having a plan can make all the difference.

Teaching fire prevention at a young age helps build lifelong safety habits and gives our children the knowledge they need to help keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe.

A big thank-you to the staff and students of Brookhaven Elementary School for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to share these important lessons!

At Brookhaven Fire Department, our job is about more than responding to emergencies — it’s about preventing them, educating our community, and protecting the next generation.

🔥 EDUCATE. PREVENT. PROTECT. 🔥

🚨🔥 12 CALLS. 3 DAYS. NO EXCUSES. 🔥🚨

October 5th–7th was another busy stretch for the members of the Brookhaven Fire Department.

In just three days, our crews ran 12 calls, with everything from structure fires and vehicle fires to multiple motor vehicle accidents and calls to assist people in need.

Here’s a look at just some of what our members handled:

🔥 Oct. 5 — 11:22 AM: South Plant Rd. Commercial vehicle fire assist Westover VFD
🚗 Oct. 5 — 3:36 PM: Motor Vehicle Accident — 1 MM assist Clinton District VFD
🔥 Oct. 6 — 11:30 AM: Structure Fire — Hawks Nest Lane assist Cheat Lake VFD
🔥 Oct. 6 — 2:26 PM: Structure Fire — Wedgewood Drive assist Star City VFD
🚒 Oct. 7 — 11:16 AM: Vehicle Fire — Mile Ground with the assist from Morgantown Fire
🆘 Oct. 7 — 12:12 PM: Assist Person — Hope Gas, Chestnut Ridge Road
🚗 Oct. 7 — 3:34 PM: Motor Vehicle Accident — 3.5 MM
🔥🚗 Oct. 7 — 5:18 PM: Motor Vehicle Accident with Fire Cheat Road assist Cheat Lake VFD

And those are just the calls worth listing. There were several other calls in between that kept our members moving.

The tones don’t care what time it is. They don’t care if you’re at work, eating dinner, sleeping, or spending time with your family. When the call comes in, firefighters get up and go.

No matter what the call is, our members answer.

We train for the worst.
We prepare for the unexpected.
We respond when our community needs us.

12 calls in 3 days — and we’re still ready for the next one.

To every member who dropped what they were doing, put on the gear, climbed in the truck, and answered the call — THANK YOU.

This is more than a hobby.
This is service. This is commitment. This is the fire service. 🚒🔥

The Brookhaven VFD is proud and excited to announce that, along with our neighboring departments — Clinton District VFD, Cool Springs VFD, and Triune Halleck VFD — we have been awarded a 2025 AFG Regional Grant totaling $735,761.90!

This grant will allow our departments to make a major upgrade to one of the most important pieces of equipment our firefighters rely on — Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs).

SCBAs provide our firefighters with clean, breathable air while operating in structure fires, vehicle fires, hazardous environments, and other emergencies where the atmosphere may be unsafe.

This funding will provide 74 SCBAs, 18 masks, and 4 RIT packs, helping ensure our firefighters have modern, dependable equipment when they answer the call.

We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and proud to work alongside our neighboring departments. Regional cooperation like this allows us to strengthen emergency services throughout our communities while improving the safety of the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others.

Better equipment. Safer firefighters. Stronger communities. 🚒🔥

Thank you to everyone who supports our departments and the work we do every day. We look forward to putting this equipment into service and continuing to proudly serve the communities we call home!

🚨 THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT IS HERE! 🚨

The Brookhaven Fire Department is proud and excited to announce that our newest piece of equipment has officially arrived!

Boat 12 arrived this morning and will be placed into service in the very near future. This new resource will allow our department to better serve the Morgantown-area community while also giving us the capability to respond to water emergencies across the state of West Virginia when requested.

With the recent flooding and increase in water-rescue incidents throughout our area and across the state, this addition is an important step in strengthening our department’s ability to respond when our communities need us most.

The members of the Brookhaven Fire Department take great pride in providing our firefighters and rescue personnel with the equipment they need to protect and serve our citizens. Boat 12 will be another valuable tool in our commitment to being ready to answer the call, no matter where that call may take us.

We would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our community for your continued support, and a special thank you to all of the local businesses and individuals who donated toward the purchase of Boat 12.

This equipment would not have been possible without your generosity and support.

Today, September 15, the Brookhaven Fire Department conducted its annual pump testing. This testing is mandated by the state to ensure that our fire apparatus meet required pumping standards and are capable of providing the water supply necessary to support firefighting operations and other responding apparatus.

We are pleased to announce that all apparatus successfully passed recertification. The testing results were as follows:

Engine 123: 1,435 gallons per minute (GPM)
Engine 122: 1,350 gallons per minute (GPM)
Tower 12: 2,100 gallons per minute (GPM)

The Brookhaven Fire Department takes great pride in maintaining our equipment and adhering to routine inspection and maintenance programs. These efforts help ensure that our apparatus remain reliable and ready to respond when our community needs us most.

We would like to thank our community for its continued support and our members for their unwavering dedication to serving and protecting the citizens of Brookhaven.
