Yesterday, Better Futures Minnesota hosted a tour for the Hennepin County Facilities - Design & Construction Team at ReUse Warehouse.

The group had the opportunity to see firsthand where materials from our deconstruction projects end up after being carefully salvaged and recovered. From cabinets and lumber to fixtures and appliances, they were able to see reusable building materials being resold back into the community instead of ending up in Minnesota landfills. It’s always exciting to show partners how deconstruction, reuse, workforce participation, and environmental impact all connect through real operations happening every day at Better Futures Minnesota.

Most people know Better Futures Minnesota through our environmental work or our workforce development model, but our crews also do a lot of behind-the-scenes work throughout the city.

From boarding up and helping secure vacant properties to maintaining lawns and cleaning up sites, our teams help make sure properties stay safer and better maintained for the surrounding community.

It’s practical, hands-on work that supports neighborhood stability while creating real employment opportunities for our participants. Whether it’s deconstruction, reuse, property services, or lawn care, our crews are out in the community every day getting the work done.

Helping participants build stability outside of work is part of what we do at Better Futures Minnesota.

Dayshane recently spotted a desk at ReUse Warehouse that he thought would be perfect for his kids’ study sessions at home, and we were happy to help work out a deal for him.

Sometimes it’s the simple things, like creating a better space for kids to focus on schoolwork, that can make a real difference at home. We’re proud to support our participants both on and off the job site as they continue building stability for themselves and their families.
