At Better Futures Minnesota, we believe quality building materials deserve a second life. Through our deconstruction services, our crews carefully salvage reusable materials that are inspected and then made available at ReUse Warehouse instead of ending up in Minnesota landfills. From lumber, doors, windows, and hardwood flooring to appliances, lighting, decking, bricks, pavers, and more, these materials help homeowners and contractors save money while reducing waste.

Planning a remodel or tear-down? Deconstruction may also provide potential tax benefits through the donation of salvaged materials. We encourage donors to consult with their tax professional regarding eligibility.

🎉 Congratulations to our newest forklift operators!
Yesterday, we held Forklift Training for two new participants and Leonard, and we're proud to share that all three successfully completed the training and are now certified to operate our electric forklift.

Forklift certification is another important step in our workforce development program, providing participants with valuable, transferable skills that they'll use throughout their hands-on training and future careers.

Congratulations to all three participants on this achievement! We appreciate your hard work and dedication, and we're excited to see you continue building your skills at Better Futures Minnesota.

♻️ Another busy day at Better Futures Minnesota! Yesterday, our appliance recycling crew received another large shipment of appliances and was hard at work ensuring each one was properly recycled.

Did you know you can recycle your old appliances at ReUse Warehouse for just $35 per appliance?
Our trained team carefully dismantles each appliance, separates recyclable materials, and ensures refrigerants like Freon are safely recovered by our EPA-certified technicians. It's an environmentally responsible way to dispose of appliances while supporting local workforce development.

Leonard has successfully completed his OSHA 10, Fall Protection, and Bloodborne Pathogens training, an important milestone as he continues building his skills at Better Futures Minnesota. He's now out in the field working alongside our crews, gaining valuable hands-on experience as he continues through the rest of his training program. His enthusiasm to learn and grow has been great to see, and we're excited to watch him continue developing new skills.

Our community has always been our greatest strength, and today we're asking for your help. Better Futures Minnesota is still recovering from the financial impact of the Metro Surge project. While we've made significant progress, we're continuing to rebuild so we can keep creating employment opportunities and providing environmental services throughout Minnesota.

🏠 Planning a remodel or tear down?
Before you send valuable building materials to the landfill, consider deconstruction instead of demolition.

At Better Futures Minnesota, our deconstruction crews carefully salvage reusable materials from homes, garages, kitchens, basements, and other structures. Those materials are then given a second life through our ReUse Warehouse instead of becoming landfill waste. There can be financial benefits, too. ♻️ A behind-the-scenes look at our Appliance Recycling team!
This morning, a late shipment of appliances arrived for recycling, and before long, our entire back warehouse was filled with refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, and more.

By the end of the day, our two-person appliance recycling crew will have processed every one of them. Today, Fong is sharing some tips with Shawn, so he can dismantle appliances more quickly and sort materials for recycling. As an EPA-certified technician, Fong is also responsible for safely removing and recovering refrigerants like Freon, a specialized task that requires certification and training.

Every appliance our team recycles helps recover valuable materials, keeps waste out of Minnesota landfills, and creates meaningful, hands-on job training for our participants. We're proud of the work our crews do every day to protect the environment while building skills that lead to long-term employment.
