The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 13 is the longest standing arts related organization in the Twin Cities metro area. Local 13 has proudly represented the interests of the men and women working behind the scenes of area theatres for over 120 years. Local 13 was merged with I.A.T.S.E. Local 20 (originally chartered in July 1894 and representing the St. Paul Minnesota ar

ea) and I.A.T.S.E. Local 781 (originally chartered in November 1944 and representing the costume and wardrobe workers across the Twin Cities Metro area.) I.A.T.S.E. Local 13 is committed to maintaining and improving working conditions
for the men and women who work behind the scenes of live theatrical and trade show events. Local 13 is also committed to the ideals and benefits of trade unionism to improve the lives of members and the community as a whole.

Limited Spots Available!
We are once again looking for volunteers to fill shifts at the MN AFL-CIO Labor Pavilion during the State Fair! There is a small stipend of $35 (mailed after the completion of the fair), and all volunteer shifts count as a union day worked. It's a good way to represent our local and our professions to the general public. It is a great way to give back.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email [email protected], with "Kiosk Shift" in the subject line and your available days in the message, there are only a few spots. State Fair Credentials are not required to volunteer so long as you are in good standing with the Local, but without credentials you will have to buy your own ticket to enter the fair. The stipend is intended to reimburse this cost.

If you haven't started the process by August 21, it's unlikely that you'll be able to get everything completed before the fair. People who have already started the process by August 21 still have the potential to finish and get added to the 2026 list!

OSHA 10 Day Credit Announcement!

The Local 13 Safety Committee is committed to fostering a strong culture of safety. A key part of that culture is ensuring stagehands have a solid understanding of fundamental safety principles, hazard recognition, and worker rights—all of which help reduce workplace injuries and fatalities.

OSHA 10 training is essential for entry-level stagehands. To build a broad base of knowledgeable and safety‑conscious workers, effective April 1, 2026, Local 13 will offer one (1) day credit for the successful completion of the IATSE Training Trust Fund (TTF) Virtual OSHA 10 General Industry and Construction course, with a focus on the entertainment industry.

This is a free, online course presented biweekly by the IATSE Training Trust Fund. There will also be an in person class this fall!

If you completed OSHA 10 training prior to April 1, 2026, please submit your completion certificate. The Executive Board will review submissions and determine eligibility for award day credit on a case‑by‑case basis.
