Find SRC and our free children’s lead testing service around the cities this summer!

Would you answer “yes” to any of the following?
- You have a child under 6 years old
- You live in a home built before 1978
- You live in a home with recent repairs to painted wood trim, walls, or floors
- You are otherwise concerned for your child’s or your own health due to factors like lead paint, mold, pests, air quality, etc.

If so, drop by our booth to:
- Receive free lead testing for your child. Our on-site nurses are prepared to take a quick and simple finger prick test, with results generally ready in 5 minutes or fewer.
- Talk with our experienced staff and check out our other resources for improving the health, safety, and energy efficiency of your home.

Did you know...
That many induction cooktops allow users to adjust heat via power OR temperature? These both work in similar ways. Our kit’s portable induction cooktop has power options ranging from 1 (low) to 10 (high), and using power may feel more intuitive to those who adjust heat by sight by switching between low/medium/high settings. For users who prefer constant or exact heating, the temperature (175˚F - 450˚F) can be adjusted.

To summarize:
Power: controls burner wattage, so temperatures may vary slightly; higher power leads to faster heating (example: good for boiling water).
Temperature: maintains a specific cooking temperature, but power levels may fluctuate slightly (example: good for cooking delicate recipes or ingredients).

SRC is excited to announce that our Induction Cooking Pilot Program in partnership with Anoka County Library is up and running! Induction stoves are a popular alternative to gas and electric stoves due to their health benefits and energy efficiency, and SRC is the first to launch an induction cooking program in Minnesota. Our program’s cooking kits can be checked out from Anoka County libraries.

SRC’s goal for the kit is to provide users with first-hand experience of induction cooking and its benefits. Looking forward, we hope to expand into the Twin Cities Metro and greater Minnesota through additional library systems.
