The New Rules Project was launched by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance in 1998. In 2012, we reorganized the NewRules.org and ILSR.org websites to better coordinate and publicize our work. Although the New Rules website no longer exists, all of the project’s activity, research, and information continues on the ILSR site: http://www.ilsr.org

New commentary from ILSR - North Carolina banned community networks, only to see Time Warner Cable and AT&T refuse to invest in the state anyway.

A new law sticks too many North Carolina businesses and residents with last-generation cable and Digital Subscriber Line networks that have been replaced elsewhere with faster and more reliable connections, often next generation fiber-optic networks.
