Our Story

Advancing Traditional Shotokan Karate with an inclusive and open organizational model. Based on the developmental stages concept of Shu 守, Ha 破, and Ri 破, the Institute’s mission is to promote technical excellence, encourage individual innovation, and support creative mastery. Shuhari offers Kyu and Dan Certification through its certified examiners and develops programs and initiatives including technical guides, videos, seminars, and other events including its annual Shuhari Cup - an Open Traditional Karate Tournament held every April.
