We’ve seen some confusion and inaccurate information circulating online about Generation Hope related to a proposed funding request. To keep things clear, we’re sharing our official statement outlining the facts, including our address timeline and the clerical carry-over that caused the mix-up.

We remain focused on serving the recovery community with transparency and integrity. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly: [email protected].

OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Generation Hope would like to clarify an administrative error related to a proposed funding request. A prior address was mistakenly carried over on a reapplication due to a clerical error, and we understand how this could create confusion. We also believe the initial question was raised in good faith by a reporter attempting to verify information.
Background and facts:
Generation Hope has been made aware of inaccurate information circulating online related to a proposed funding request. There has been a misperception that we have been hiding where we have been working out of.
Generation Hope submitted a CPF (Community Project Fund) request through CD-05 in early 2024 while operating out of 326 Cedar Ave S in Cedar-Riverside. Which is a multi-tenant building that includes a restaurant, nonprofits, and businesses.
While our Cedar-Riverside site remains a satellite location, In May 2024, we expanded and opened a larger office in downtown Minneapolis, which is now our primary location. The previous address remained on the 2025 reapplication because of prior-year information due to a clerical error.
Some posts that have circulated are old photos of Sagal Restaurant when it operated out of 411 Cedar Ave S. That address has never been Generation Hope’s location, and those images are being shared in a way that might be misleading to individuals that are not familiar with us.
To be clear, Generation Hope has never committed fraud, or submitted falsified paperwork. In addition, we have not received any federal funding related to this proposed request.
Generation Hope is a grassroots organization rooted in the community at large, created from a place of pain and hope for the future. We have served the recovery community for nearly seven years, and we plan to continue to do so.
We hope this clarifies any questions or concerns. For any future inquiries, please contact us at [email protected]

Our listening session was a success!

This weekend, Generation Hope hosted a conversation on overdose loss and data accuracy in the East African community. For years, our families have faced the opioid crisis and many tell us the numbers haven’t reflected our lived reality. Behind every statistic is a human being: a son, daughter, parent, friend, or neighbor. The full impact hasn’t been visible in Minnesota’s public health data.

Not from a lack of care, but because current systems don’t always capture our languages, identities, and context.

We’re working together to change that.

Generation Hope in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute ,Alliance Wellness Center l, and Hennepin County is piloting a culturally informed process to better identify and verify East African overdose deaths in Minnesota’s data.

If you’ve lost someone, if you’re fighting for someone, if you’re tired of our pain being overlooked, join our next sessions and be heard. Your voice will shape how data and the decisions it informs, better protect our community.
