Over the last 5 years ACS has accomplished much under difficult circumstances: we have trained recent arrivals to serve their peers as our team has tirelessly assisted pharmacists, doulas, welders, mechanics, doctors, artists, and many others transition their skills to become productive members of the professional landscape of Minnesota. Additionally, we have worked with our youth, providing peer mentorship with over 90% of our high school graduates attending college or university.
Furthermore, ACS has provided over 500 of our community members with psycho-education and mental health services as we continue to address the trauma of displacement as well as the trauma incurred in the wake of operation metro surge.
We could not have accomplished any of this without the hard work of staff and volunteers and without the support of our many partners in various communities and organizations around the Twin Cities as well as the state and federal government.
Unfortunately, the current administration has turned its back on resettled Afghans, in particular targeting former Afghan military personnel who put their lives and their families at risk to keep US soldiers safe. The tone in MN has unfortunately shifted as well over the past year, with funders drastically reducing or cutting much needed resources from a still growing population in need.
With these and other challenges facing our communities, our work of keeping them safe and providing resources for their wellbeing , stability and self sufficiency is as important as ever. Pleas consider a donation today to support the urgent work of our dedicated staff in these trying times.
