๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšซ As we go into a beautiful Spring weekend, please remember that we are still under a burn ban. ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Refrain from campfires, brush burning and any other open fire until the risk lowers. Closely monitor other fire sources such a cigarette butts and grills. The debris that Helene left behind is fuel that will worsen the spread and intensity of wild fires now and for years to come!

Everyone stay safe and have a wonderful weekend. ๐ŸŒž

Jack Branch Fire
Fire personnel and aircraft are responding to the Jack Branch Fire on the Appalachian Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest. The Jack Branch Fire is estimated to be 10 acres in size and is located approximately 3 miles north of Hot Springs, North Carolina in the Bellcow Mountain area near the Tennessee state line.

Two large water dropping helicopters have been dispatched to the fire for water drops. Fire crews on the ground have also responded to help direct water drops and the fire suppression response.

For public and firefighter safety, please stay away from the fire area and give the helicopters plenty of room to get water from the French Broad River.

๐ŸŒŽWhy not spend Earth Week Saturday learning about the diversity of life in our streams? ๐ŸŒ

Anglers, boaters, landowners, students, and nature enthusiasts are invited to attend Life in Our Streams, an engaging event focused on the biodiversity and health of local waterways. Hosted by the WREN Center (WhiteRock Research Education and Nature Center) regional partners and conservation leaders, the 1-day event on Saturday April 25 offers a hands-on opportunity to explore life within creeks and rivers while learning how aquatic species and water quality indicators reflect overall stream health.

๐Ÿ“ข Food Pantry Distribution ๐Ÿ“ข
Tuesday - March 17th 1 - 3 PM
Thursday - March 19th 5 - 7 PM

We received a huge food order this week and have fresh vegetables, local meat, nonperishables, pet food, diapers (size 5 only) and over the counter medicines!

If you could use assistance with any of these, please come check out our pantry. If you currently don't need this assistance, please help us broaden our impact by sharing this post with someone else who could benefit from the items in our pantry.

Today our wonderful volunteers spent over 2 hours unloading, sorting, and stocking our pantry! Thanks to each and every one of them for their hard work and dedication to keep our community fed. ๐Ÿ’—

Calling all cats & kittens, dogs & cats out to the Laurel Community Center THIS Saturday, March 14th starting at 10 AM!

Thanks to our friends at Friends of Madison County Animals, Dr. Ford will be coming out to Laurel for a FREE vaccination clinic for Madison County residents.

Please make sure ALL dogs are on leash and ALL cats are in carriers! This is for their safety and yours too.

We hope you'll come out and get your critters up to date on their vaccinations thanks to this great community partnership.

See you there!
