City of Cedar Rapids City Council Member David Maier brought together Trees Forever and Monarch Research Project for a special event at Grant Wood Elementary School last Friday!

This event was a celebration of Roots & New Beginnings! Fifth Grade students got to watch an oak tree planting demonstration and learn the importance of native trees in the environment.

This year, Principal Financial Group was our winner for Outstanding Volunteer Group and they reminded us why!

Year after year, volunteers from Principal come out for an afternoon and make a huge difference in a Des Moines neighborhood. This season was no different as 26 volunteers donated their time and energy to plant 45 trees. In a few short hours, they were able to transform a block in the Valley High Manor neighborhood. We're so grateful for every individual who planted trees!

Power of Trees is a partnership of Black Hills Energy, Trees Forever and your community to fund tree plantings that save energy, beautify your community and enhance the environment. It is offered to Iowa communities served by Black Hills Energy.
